Town Hall Meeting on Radiofrequency radiation in our Berkeley Libraries

Date:
Friday, September 09, 2005
Time:
7:00 PM - 10:00 PM
Event Type:
Panel Discussion
Organizer/Author:
Berkeleyans Organizing for Library Defense (BOLD)
Location Details:
Unitarian Fellowship Hall
1924 Cedar at Bonita
Berkeley

A panel of experts will address privacy invasion, health effects of radiofrequency radiation and system flaws.

We have two speakers from ACLU, one from the Electronic Frontier Foundation, from SNAFU (San Francisco Neighborhood Antenna Free Union),
from Library Users Association, and one of the workers from the Berkeley Public Library.

The Board of Library Trustees under the Director have installed these tracking tags in all the books, DVDs, videos and magazines with no consultation with the community.

After the panel has presented their information we will brainstorm ways to get this invasive and expensive proprietary technology out of our Public Libraries.

If they can put RFID in our Berkeley Public Libraries, they will be able to put it in everywhere.
