Local 2's Labor Day action on Monday was a phenomenal success.
Hundreds of Local 2 members marched shoulder to shoulder with
you as we made our way from Local 2 Plaza to the Grand Hyatt
where 61 of our co-workers, labor leaders, allies and neighbors
sat blocking the entrance to the Grand Hyatt and were arrested
in an act of civil disobedience.
It was a good day for the union, a good day for San Francisco
and a bad day for Hyatt!

for local coverage.
This action came on the heels of a very exciting break in the
campaign last week. On Thursday, the Blackstone Corporation, the
owning entity of the Westin St Francis, came forward saying that
they were "Ready to Compromise". John Ceriale, head of
Blackstone is quoted in the Chronicle saying, "I think it has
gone on way to long. I think we need to do this and stop the
boycott of the hotels and mend relations with labor and see how
we can move forward."
Our negotiating committee met the next day to decide how we
would move forward in response to the actions of the Blackstone
Corporation.
They unanimously decided to suspend the boycott of the Westin St
Francis.
