On May 16th, 2005, the Blue Lake police, including chief Gundersen, launched a racially motivated attack on a homeless mother and her children. The woman was shot with a taser electro-shock gun, forcibly medicated with the dangerous pharmaceutical Haldol, allegedly abused sexually while unconscious, and taken to jail. She was told by police chief Gundersen that she was not allowed in Blue Lake due to her race.

pleaes act on this now.i am a black man who was injected with that drug and i went into deathly paroxysms and could have easily died.please resist and spread this news.i am permanently damaged for life!!!please stop this fascist takeover.you are not safe.they could kill you with those drugs!

Haldol is a very dangerous and outdated neuroleptic anti-psychotic tranquilizer. Side effects include but are not limited to; difficulty breathing, heart rate increase, tardive dyskenisia, etc..
"Tardive dyskinesia is a drug-induced movement disorder that is usually irreversible. There are no adequate treatments. Drugs that are used to treat psychoses, such as schizophrenia or mania, can cause tardive dyskinesia. The FDA has mandated that all neuroleptic or antipsychotic drugs carry a uniform warning about causing tardive dyskinesia. These drugs include Zyprexa, Seroquel, Risperdal, Geodon, Clozapine, Thorazine, Serentil, Mellaril, Prolixin, Haldol, Loxitane, Moban, Trilafon, Orap, Navane, and Stelazine."

The police verbal and physical assualt in Blue Lake was combined with a chemical assault on the victim's body. Racism and police brutality combined with an intentional chemical assault is near attempted murder. With the condition of the person attacked already stressed by verbal and physical abuse, the tranquilizer Haldol can aggravate any breathing or health condition to elevated risk of seizure and/or death. The Blue Lake police are not prepared for any health emergency from the side effects of the drug, and should not administer this drug..
Haldol is one among many psychiatric drugs involuntary force medicated on prisoners. North of Blue Lake in Crescent City Pelican Bay prison force medicates prisoners who are labeled "mentally ill" when the reason for their symptoms is most likely the isolating and confined conditions of long term prison life. If we place people in an unnatural situation where their entire life is controlled by racist and classist wardens, the expected results will be in increase in distrubed behavior. The only treatment provided by the prison authorities is a damaging chemical array of psychotropics and anti-depressents. What prisoners need is a chance at self improvement and education, an increase of community based treatments like group homes and fewer monolithic state prisons like Pelican Bay. Until we can change a racist and classist police state (most likely via insurrection), we can expect incidents of police and psychiatric brutality to continue suppressing the American people..

I have had many dealings with Ms. Phillips. I have absolutely no connection to any law enforcement or medical agencies and I was not there when Yvonne's troubles befell her. But I can tell you unequivocably that trouble follows this woman like a black cloud. Wherever you find Yvonne, you find exhausing and immense amounts of DRAMA. If the police acted in a racist manner, they should be hung out to dry. But I implore readers to take headlines with a grain of salt. The woman has an unbelievable amount of trouble in her life, and I believe a great deal of it to be self-induced. Please read Yvonne's entire "diary" before making up your mind about this situation. Racism is a scourge on human life. But so is creating division unnecessarily, when it is already so difficult for people to love each other and live in peace. Before buying everything as gospel, bear in mind that Yvonne, by her own admission, was panhandling with her babies. They are always with her and have witnessed things that kids just shouldn't have to see, hear, or live.

I too have seen Yvonne at the Endeavor (Arcata) for lunch, with her children. No dark cloud, no drama. Yes, her kids have seen hard times that they "shouldn't have to see." But to just blame the mother, who's doing all she can for them, and to try to excuse the police who assaulted her, is just blaming the victim. Is she guilty of panhandling? Or are we guilty of letting her have to panhandle?
Think about it.
