Green Party Decries Labor Arrests
Six arrested at state office distributing union newsletters; Green Party says it's more proof Schwarzenegger is anti-worker
The Green Party is publicly decrying attacks made by Governor Schwarzenegger against Labor this week. Six arrests were made against SEIU Local 1000 union leaders distributing union newsletters to employees at the CA Dept. of Transportation. Union representatives were charged with trespassing for allegedly entering a "restricted" area. In addition, two members of Legislature were deined entry to the building. The Green Party firmly opposes these arrests, and continues to stand behind Labor in their efforts for fair wages and safe working conditions. To learn more, read the full press release.

what crap. another stupid staged event. every one of those Caltrans employees gets the union newsletter in the mail.
Oh? Why do CalTrans members have it so good? I'm a SEIU 1000 member, and while I do get election and benefits material in the mail, I don't get any of the newsletters in the mail.
Indeed, I've only received them when a union members was at my worksite distributing them. Thankfully, the union is still welcomed at my site.
That being said, even if we did receive the newsletters by mail, which a lot of members (maybe all?) don't, it's still "crap" (as you put it) that the union would be arrested for distributing the newsletters. Remember that they're just distributing the letters to represented employees. It's quite possible (though I don't know) that the union distributors are CalTrans employees!
