Military Mothers Demand Right To Send Sons Off To Die

by Shaheeds For Bush
"A heavy burden falls on our military families. There are few things in life more difficult than seeing a loved one go off to war. They miss you and love you," the president said. "By standing behind you, the families are standing up for America."
He pointed to a teary Tammy Pruett in the center of the front row, the Pocatello mother of six boys, all soldiers. Four are in Iraq now and two have already served tours in the Middle East. ...
At the end of his speech, the president acknowledged the fallen, noting 491 of more than 1,800 soldiers killed in Iraq were National Guard troops. "We mourn the loss of every life," he said. "We will honor their sacrifice by completing their mission."
http://sltrib.com/utah/ci_2971358

Unlike Sheehan, the Pruetts are very much in support of the war. "It's right there in my heart how proud my boys are to be there," Tammy Pruett told ABC News. "They signed the line to serve their country and our commander in chief."
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/IraqCoverage/story?id=1066030&page=1&CMP=OTC-RSSFeeds0312

If the war is ended Tammy wont have the joy of having her sons give their life for Jesus, Bush was reported as having stated before offering more money for any Shaheeds willing to give their lives to kill the Islamic enemy. In an attempt to rally anti-abortion forces Bush also pointed out that every aborted American fetus is one fewer solider who could die for Jesus in Iraq.

Meanwhile, a pro-Bush camp was also started by a local business owner in downtown Crawford. The camp was named "Fort Qualls" after Louis Wayne Qualls - a soldier who died in Iraq last fall. Last week, his father, Gary Qualls removed a cross bearing his son's name that was among the hundreds that the anti-war protestors had put up along the road to Bush's property. Gary Qualls called the protesters views disrespectful to the soldiers since if they hadn't died in Iraq they wouldnt have been guaranteed a place in heaven and that its better to have a son die in Iraq than to waste their life at deadend jobs back here.

Others have pointed out that "Casey Sheehan wanted to serve in Iraq and his mother is cheapening his devotion", and that she is jepordizing his chance to meet with Jesus which is the reward any good Christian will receive if they die killing nonChristians.

Down went the gun-ner, a bul - let was his fate
Down went the gun-ner, and then the gun-ner's mate
Up jumped the sky pi-lot, gave the boys a look
And manned the gun him-self as he laid a-side TheBook, shout-ing:

"Praise The Lord, and pass the am-mu-ni-tion!
Praise The Lord, and pass the am-mu-ni-tion!
Praise The Lord, and pass the am-mu-ni-tion and we'll all stay free!

Praise The Lord, and swing in-to po-si-tion,
Can't af-ford to sit a-round a'-wish-in'
Praise The Lord, we're all be-tween per-dition
and the deep blue sea!"

Yes the sky pi-lot said it You've got to give him cred-it
for a son-of-a-gun of a gun-ner was he,
Shouting: "Praise The Lord,
we're on a might - y mis-sion!
All a-board! We're not a - go - in' fish-in',

"I RAQ AND ROLL"

Words and Music by Clint Black and Hayden Nicholas

YOU CAN WAVE YOUR SIGNS IN PROTEST
AGAINST AMERICA TAKING STANDS
THE STANDS AMERICA'S TAKEN
ARE THE REASON THAT YOU CAN

IF EVERYONE WOULD GO FOR PEACE
THERE'D BE NO NEED FOR WAR
BUT WE CAN'T IGNORE THE DEVIL
HE'LL KEEP COMING BACK FOR MORE

SOME SEE THIS IN BLACK AND WHITE
OTHERS ONLY GRAY
WE'RE NOT BEGGING FOR A FIGHT
NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY

WE HAVE THE RESOLUTION
THAT SHOULD PUT'EM ALL TO SHAME
BUT IT'S A DIFFERENT KIND OF DEADLINE
WHEN I'M CALLED IN THE GAME

CHORUS
I RAQ, I RACK'EM UP AND I ROLL
I'M BACK AND I'M A HIGH TECH GI JOE
I PRAY FOR PEACE, PREPARE FOR WAR
AND I NEVER WILL FORGET
THERE'S NO PRICE TOO HIGH FOR FREEDOM
SO BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU TREAD

THIS TERROR ISN'T MAN TO MAN
THEY CAN BE NO MORE THAN COWARDS
IF THEY WON'T SHOW US THEIR WEAPONS
WE MIGHT HAVE TO SHOW THEM OURS

IT MIGHT BE A SMART BOMB
THEY FIND STUPID PEOPLE TOO
AND IF YOU STAND WITH THE LIKES OF SADDAM
ONE JUST MIIGHT FIND YOU

CHORUS II
I ROCK, I RACK'EM UP AND I ROLL
I'M BACK AND I'M A HIGH TECH GI JOE
I'VE GOT INFRARED, I'VE GOT GPS AND I'VE GOT THAT GOOD OLD FASHIONED LEAD
THERE'S NO PRICE TOO HIGH FOR FREEDOM
SO BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU TREAD

BRIDGE
NOW YOU CAN COME ALONG
OR YOU CAN STAY BEHIND
OR YOU CAN GET OUT OF THE WAY
BUT OUR TROOPS TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE
FOR THE GOOD OLD U.S.A.

I ROCK, I RACK'EM UP AND I ROLL
IN THE USA
I ROCK, I RACK'EM UP AND I ROLL

I could please Miss Barbara Streisand,
By spitting on the flag,
Or strangling a bald eagle,
On the cover of some mag,
But I love this country,
To me she has no sins,
If you don't buy my record,
Then Al Qaida wins.

This ain't no rag it's a flag
And we don't wear it on our heads
It's a symbol of the land where the good guys live
Are you listening to what I said
You're a coward and a fool
And you broke all of the rules
And you wounded our American pride

And now we're coming with a gun
And we know you're gonna run
But you can't find no place to hide
We're gonna hunt you down like a mad dog hound
Make you pay for the live you stole
We're all through talking and a messing around
And now it's time to rock and roll

These colors don't run and we're speaking as one
When we say united we stand
When you mess with one, you mess with us all
Every boy, girl, woman and man
You've been acting mighty rash
And talking that trash
Let me give you some advice
You can crawl back in your hole
Like a dirty little mole

But now it's time to pay the price
You might of shot us in the back
Now you have to face the fact
That the big boys' in the game
And the thunder's been crashing
And the lightning's been flashing
And now it's getting ready to rain

Chorus:
This is the United States of America
The land of the brave and the free
We believe in God and we believe in justice
We believe in liberty
You've been pulling our chain
We should've done something 'bout you a long time ago
But now the flag's flying high and the fur's gonna fly
And soon the whole world's gonna know

This ain't no rag, it's a flag
Old Glory red, white and blue
The stars and the stripes when it comes to a fight
We can do what we have to do
Our people stand proud
The American crowd is faithful, loyal and tough
We're good as the best and better than the rest
And you're gonna find out soon enough
When you look up in the sky
And you see the eagle fly
You better know he's a heading your way
Cause this ain't no rag it's a flag
And it stands for the USA

Momma I fear the night is falling
Blacker than jet and cold as ice
And somewhere a gentle voice is calling
And I hear the sounds of paradise

See the innocent dying
Has the world gone insane
Now the death angelsflying

And he's calling my name

I know this will be my finest hour
I stand face to face with the enemy
Defying his awesome evil power
And hold my light high for the world to see

And nothing else matters
Just hold fast to the right
See the enemy scatter
See his forces take flight

Momma don't shed a tear for me
Don't wring your hands and moan
Remember it's darkest
Just before dawn
You know we'll meet again
Around that shining throne
My hands were not empty
I was never alone

See the innocent dying
Has the world gone insane
Now the death angels are flying
And he's calling my name

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Out in the yard with your wife and children
Working on some stage in LA
Did you stand there in shock at the site of
That black smoke rising against that blue sky
Did you shout out in anger
In fear for your neighbor
Or did you just sit down and cry

Did you weep for the children
Who lost their dear loved ones
And pray for the ones who don't know
Did you rejoice for the people who walked from the rubble
And sob for the ones left below

Did you burst out in pride
For the red white and blue
The heroes who died just doing what they do
Did you look up to heaven for some kind of answer
And look at yourself to what really matters

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

Where were you when the world stopped turning that September day
Teaching a class full of innocent children
Driving down some cold interstate
Did you feel guilty cause you're a survivor
In a crowded room did you feel alone
Did you call up your mother and tell her you love her
Did you dust off that bible at home
Did you open your eyes and hope it never happened
Close your eyes and not go to sleep
Did you notice the sunset the first time in ages
Speak with some stranger on the street
Did you lay down at night and think of tomorrow
Go out and buy you a gun
Did you turn off that violent old movie you're watching
And turn on "I Love Lucy" reruns
Did you go to a church and hold hands with some stranger
Stand in line and give your own blood
Did you just stay home and cling tight to your family
Thank God you had somebody to love

I'm just a singer of simple songs
I'm not a real political man
I watch CNN but I'm not sure I can tell you
The difference in Iraq and Iran
But I know Jesus and I talk to God
And I remember this from when I was young
Faith hope and love are some good things he gave us
And the greatest is love

I hear people saying we don’t need this war
I say there’s some things worth fighting for
What about our freedom and this piece of ground
We didn’t get to keep ’em by backing down
They say we don’t realize the mess we’re getting in
Before you start your preaching let me ask you this my friend

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn’t worry ’bout bin laden
Have you forgotten?

They took all the footage off my t.v.
Said it’s too disturbing for you and me
It’ll just breed anger that’s what the experts say
If it was up to me I’d show it everyday
Some say this country’s just out looking for a fight
After 9/11 man I’d have to say that’s right

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn’t worry ’bout bin laden
Have you forgotten?

I’ve been there with the soldiers
Who’ve gone away to war
And you can bet that they remember
Just what they’re fighting for

Have you forgotten how it felt that day?
To see your homeland under fire
And her people blown away
Have you forgotten when those towers fell?
We had neighbors still inside going thru a living hell
And you say we shouldn’t worry ’bout bin laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten all the people killed?
Some went down like heros in that pennsylvania field
Have you forgotten about our pentagon?
All the loved ones that we lost and those left to carry on
Don’t you tell me not to worry about bin laden
Have you forgotten?

Have you forgotten?
Have you forgotten?

by kill em all
"Kill'em all, and let God sort'em out" is adopted by the Marines and the Green Berets. I think it derives from "Neca eos omnes. Deus suos agnoset", or "Kill them all. God will know His own.". This was a misunderstood reference to 2 Tim. 2:19 which in part reads, "The Lord knoweth them that are his". I think this comes from around 1210AD, when Pope Innocent III unleashed "orders of fire and sword" against heretics throughout Europe. In this process there was a terrible massacre at the city Beziers, where it was thought that over 100,000 people were killed. After that city where taken, they had captured over 450 "heretics", but many of them claimed to be good Catholics. The quote is believed to be first used here, when they killed all the "heretics". It did not matter if they killed good people, because if one led a godly life, God would know of it, and the reward would be eternal paradise anyway.

CRAWFORD - President Bush's supporters poured into Crawford Saturday by the thousands, for the first time outnumbering war protesters led by Cindy Sheehan, who began a vigil here three weeks ago, demanding a personal meeting with the vacationing president to talk about her son's death in Iraq.

Under tight police security and intense heat, tempers flared and traffic was clogged. But by late in the afternoon only two people had been arrested for what the Secret Service described as a minor "attitude thing."

An estimated 3,000 to 4,000 people attended a pro-Bush rally in Crawford, waving flags and pledging their allegiance to U.S. troops. At times, they accused Cindy Sheehan of dishonoring the war death of her own son, Casey, who was in the Army.

Jeannine McEwin, 69, said she and her husband, Harold, made the six-hour trip from their home on Toledo Bend Lake, a mile from the Louisiana border, to help conservatives overcome the dominance anti-war demonstrators have had here since Sheehan came to town on Aug. 6.

"The left has had so much publicity, and we have sat back and done nothing," McEwin said. "We have allowed them to take over."

Harold McEwin, 70, said he came to support Bush and the reasons for the war in Iraq.

"When I was 8 years old I walked the streets of Shreveport picking up metal coat hangers to be used to build bombs and bullets" for World War II, he said, adding: "I started out my patriotism right there."

Another 800 to 1,000 war protesters were on hand Saturday, many of them shuttled from the Peace House in Crawford to encampments along Prairie Chapel Road, which leads to the entrances to Bush's ranch. The day's events, closely monitored by police on the ground and in helicopters, easily broke the record for the number of people participating in demonstrations here since Bush turned his ranch into the "Western White House."

Bill Perkins, a retired alcohol and drug counselor from Austin, said he came to Crawford to support Sheehan's claim that her son died in an unwarranted war. Referring to the president, Perkins said, "We think he lied and got us into this mess."

Bush, who was believed to have been at his ranch, was not seen by his supporters or his detractors.

Emotions ran the highest at a bend on Prairie Chapel Road, with war-protesters on one side, Bush supporters on the other side, and local police and state troopers in the middle. Sheehan's followers accused Bush of lying about his reasons for going to war in Iraq, answered by a sign held by a Bush supporter that said: "Repent you Treasons."

Police also expressed concern that several families, who lost children to the war, had planned to invade the war protest camps and pull up crosses bearing the names of their own chiildren. It was not immediately known whether any of them were successful in doing so.

"We want to so bad we can taste it," said Sandy Watson of Phoenix, whose son, Michael Williams, was killed in Iraq in 2003. "We don't want (Sheehan) to have our son's cross out there."

Instead of facing off with the anti-war crowd, Bush supporter Shawn Wroblewski, of Jefferson Township, N.J., said she asked the McLennan County Sheriff's Department to look for a cross bearing the name of her son, John Thomas, a Marine who was killed in Iraq last year. "Two weeks ago I called the Crawford sheriff and asked him to kindly remove my son's cross if it was there. He assured me that he would," Wroblewski said.

Milton Pittman of Arlington and Libby Patterson of Fort Worth said they drove to Crawford to show their support for Bush and were amazed by the large crowds. "I think it shows the freedom of speech that we have in America," said Patterson.

Pittman agreed, calling the pro-Bush crowds "very cordial, like regular people," while saying the anti-war demonstrators seemed "confused."

Sheree Kirsch of Mansfield also drove to Crawford Saturday. But her plans were to sell her barbecue sauce at the local restaurant, not realizing she would find herself in the middle of a national debate, and one of the largest war demonstrations since the Vietnam War.

"I did not know this was going to be today," said Kirsch, as she tried to keep pace with the line of people asking for her free samples of sauce and chips. She added, "Everybody I've talked to in here has been pro-Bush."

Bush Says `More Sacrifice' Needed for Iraq Effort (Update4)

Aug. 27 (Bloomberg) -- President George W. Bush said in his weekly radio address that U.S. efforts in Iraq will require ``more sacrifice,'' while thousands of protesters for and against the Iraq war gathered near Bush's ranch in Crawford, Texas.

``Our efforts in Iraq and the broader Middle East will require more time, more sacrifice and continued resolve,'' Bush said.

Bush's remarks come with his approval rating at an all time low and as protesters camp out outside the ranch where he's vacationing, many demanding an immediate withdrawal of the 138,000 U.S. troops in Iraq, while others are showing support.

Bush emphasized in today's speech the progress being made in Iraq, where the Shiite and Kurdish leaders said yesterday that they would submit an amended constitution to parliament despite opposition from minority Sunnis.

``Like our own nation's founders over two centuries ago, the Iraqis are grappling with difficult issues, such as the role of the federal government,'' Bush said. ``What is important is that Iraqis are now addressing these issues through debate and discussion -- not at the barrel of a gun.''

Job Approval Rating Slips

Bush's job approval rating slipped to the lowest of any post- World War II president elected to a second term except Richard Nixon, a Gallup Organization poll found yesterday.

The poll of 1,007 adults age 18 and older conducted Aug. 22- 25 found Bush's approval and disapproval ratings are the most negative of his presidency, with 40 percent approval and 56 percent disapproval. The poll had a margin of error of 3 percentage points.

``If the polls weren't negative, these demonstrations would not matter,'' said Anthony Cordesman, a Middle East security analyst at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington. ``They are and that helps make them a media magnet. Looking back at Vietnam, however, it's demonstrations in thousands and tens of thousands that ultimately matter.''

Peace protesters have flocked to Texas since Cindy Sheehan, whose son Casey was killed in Iraq, began camping out on Aug. 6 near Bush's ranch -- where the president began a monthlong vacation on Aug. 2 -- demanding a meeting to discuss a troop withdrawal.

Sheehan supporters held a midday peace vigil at their encampment where they have set up white crosses inscribed with some of the names of the 1,867 military personnel killed in Iraq.

`Not Going Away'

``Why are we allowing him to continue to kill our kids, because he's killed so many already?'' Sheehan asked the crowd. ``We've had enough,'' she said. For ``those pro-war, pro-killing people'' who are ``out to smear'' her, Sheehan said she's ``not going away,'' adding, ``Religious right, eat your heart out.''

A group called ``You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy'' held a rally in support of the president in downtown Crawford later in the day.

The competing protests drew about 8,500 people, roughly split between the two sides, said Donnie Tidmore, the police chief of Crawford, which has a population of 705 people, according to a sign as you drive into town.

Among those at the pro-Bush rally was Deena Burnett, whose husband Tom was killed on United Airlines Flight 93 on Sept. 11. Deena Burnett said her husband died trying to re-take the plane from the terrorists.

Tom Burnett ``believed in doing what's right and not necessarily taking the easy way out and that you have to fight for freedom and democracy,'' Burnett said at the rally. ``He would have supported this war.''

Supporting Bush

Loren and Deb Meyer, who lost their son Jason in April 2003 to friendly fire in Iraq, traveled from their home in South Bend, Indiana to show their support for Bush.

``We have one more son deploying for sure and possibly another,'' Deb Meyer said. The troops ``will be there as long as they need to be there and until the mission is completed.''

``We don't believe Cindy Sheehan supports the troops,'' said Deb Meyer. ``What she's doing and what she's saying is bad for troops' morale.''

Bush has declined a meeting with Sheehan, while saying that he supports her right to protest. He said a withdrawal from Iraq ``would weaken the United States'' and that Sheehan ``doesn't represent the view of a lot of the families I have met with.'' The president did meet with Sheehan and other relatives of fallen soldiers to offer condolences last year.

Sheehan has said she plans a bus tour across the U.S. in September, culminating in Washington on Sept. 24 where she'll set up a permanent protest in front of the White House.

Sheehan a `Lightning Rod'

``Sheehan is having an effect'' on Bush's ratings, said Steve Schneck, head of the politics department at Catholic University, based in Washington. ``Her presence is serving as a lightning rod for both protesters and supporters of Bush's Iraq policies.''

``Given that the situation there has been turning more and more sour, any attention Sheehan draws to the war is a net loss for support for Bush,'' Schneck said.

The protesters are testament to ``the intensity of the operation we are involved in, not President Bush per se,'' said Michael O'Hanlon, a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington. What is happening in Iraq and Crawford is ``democracy in action, when the stakes are high.''

Michael Savage's long, strange trip
How a Jewish kid from the Bronx went from swimming naked with Allen Ginsberg to spewing the ugliest bile on talk radio.

- - - - - - - - - - - -
By David Gilson

printe-mail

March 5, 2003 | At first glance, Michael Alan Weiner seems like an improbable candidate to be America's angriest, most vicious conservative radio host. Born 60 years ago in the Bronx, Weiner has lived in Northern California for most of his adult life, making a living as an herbalist and nutritionist. He communed with Fijian traditional healers, got married in a rain forest and studied ethno-medicine at the University of California at Berkeley. He swam naked with Allen Ginsberg, dreamed of being the next Lenny Bruce and wrote a rambling novel about a half-mad alter ego. His son's middle name is Goldencloud. For years, he made a name cranking out a pile of books on alternative medicine, recommending bizarre remedies such as using vitamin C to stop AIDS and kicking cocaine with coffee enemas.

These days, Weiner's more interested in purging the body politic. Using the pseudonym Michael Savage, he's launched a one-man mission to save America from its enemies at home and abroad, which on any given day includes liberals, gays, academics, the homeless, the Clintons, immigrants, feminists, CNN, the American Civil Liberties Union, Muslims and other minorities. Broadcasting three hours a day, five afternoons a week, from a rented studio in downtown San Francisco, he gives voice to the right wing's darkest fantasies. He muses about launching preemptive nuclear strikes on the Middle East ("I wish to God the hatches were open and the missiles were flying!"), suggests gunning down illegal immigrants ("If we had a government, we'd blow them out of the desert with airplanes!"), dreams of dispatching with "commies, pinkos and perverts" and other undesirables ("I say round them up and hang 'em high!") and even paraphrases a remark attributed to Nazi leader Hermann Goering ("When I hear someone's in the civil rights business, I oil up my AR-15!")

Michael Weiner's long and circuitous road has taken him from being a scientist and entrepreneur, through stints as a hipster, novelist and aspiring comedian, to becoming the personification of straight white male rage. But just as his gap-toothed grin has been replaced by a row of airbrushed pearly whites on the front cover of his new book, he gives his audience a whitewashed version of his past. The real story is far more interesting, not just for its ironies and contradictions, but for the often disturbing clues it provides about the man now so well known as Michael Savage. He's gone through at least one political makeover. He's turned on old friends, or they've turned on him. If his semi-autobiographical novel is any guide to his own life, he's keeping a few skeletons in his closet.

In the end, the picture that emerges from his books, from interviews with past and current associates, and from his radio show is that "The Savage Nation" is just the latest undertaking of a man who's spent his life trying to get the world to notice him.
