Just Cause: Oakland Wal-Mart Picket Reminder

by repost from just cause
Don't forget the picket this weekend at Wal-Mart. This is Oakland residents' chance to let the biggest corporation in the world know that their poverty wages, lack of benefits, and sweatshop products are not welcome here.

Just Cause Reminder....

Wal-Mart has been feeding the media some pretty outrageous stories over the past few days. Stories of workers lining up to work at their store. Stories of happy workers getting hefty benefits. But we know the facts. People are applying to work at Wal-Mart because people are desperate for work, not because they love Wal-Mart! Wal-Mart's wages, even though they are higher in the Bay Area, are still way below what is needed to live here. And part-time workers dont get benefits until they have been there for two years - but most of them will not last that long. Even full-time workers have to wait six months.

So let's take this opportunity to get OUR message out. We are asking residents not to shop at the store and to support workers' rights and organizing there. Saturday is the big day. We hope to see you there.

Saturday, August 27th
11am-2pm

Actually, WalMart is quite welcome here. Finally, low income people in Oakland will have a place to buy school clothes and supplies, household goods and other items at a price they can afford. No more being held hostage to the overpriced "locally owned, independent" stores. WM will not cave in to union goon and blackmail, so of course they are hated by the Left. Tough. Welcome to the future.

it seems litttle weird to see people picket a store in a neighborhood that is so desperate for stores. does any of your leadership live in a neighborhood without many stores?

Walmart is also responsible for a rash of UFOs visiting Oakland.
