In a communique posted to the santiago indymedia website, anarchists claimed responsibility for the Thursday, August 11th bombings of the Dante Alighieri institute and a branch of the National Bank of Laboro in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in solidarity with anarchists in Italian prisons. The Dante Alighieri institute promotes the Italian culture in Argentina.
Prior to these explosive attacks, locks were glued shut at the Dante Alighieri institute and three branches of the National Bank of Laboro. Writing on the walls read: "Free the anarchists in Italy!"
On July 28th, in Montevideo, Uruguay, anarchists threw tar bombs against the walls of the Italian consulate, Italian chamber of commerce and Italian institute of culture, and put up posters on their walls reading: "Anarchist solidarity spreads like fire."
These actions all refer to the almost 200 raids carried out against Italian anarchists in May of 2005 which led to several arrests.
