This film showing is a commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the untimely death of Rodney. Walter Rodney was assassinated in Guyana on June 13, 1980 to stop his organizing efforts within the Afrikan and (East) Indian working class in Guyana to liberate itself. Rodney was a preeminent revolutionary intellectual and Pan-Afrikanist organizer. He is the author the essential “How Europe Underdeveloped Africa”, and “The Groundings with My Brothers”. Rodney had a profound impact on the Wailers and other Rasta’s when he taught in Jamaica in the late 1960’s, was one of the critical organizers of the 6th Pan-African Congress in Tanzania in 1974, and a leader of the Working Peoples Alliance in Guyana.
