Shut Down The TIC Open Houses July 31
Stop The Sales of all TICs Where Tenants Have Been Evicted
TENANTS: COME JOIN THE PICKETS
BUYERS: BOYCOTT OPEN HOUSE JULY 31
If There's No Buyers, There's No Evictions!
Gather at SF Tenants Union, 12 NOON, Sunday July 31
At the latest picket of a TIC Open House, tenants virtually closed it down with just 3 prospective buyers crossing the picket line. Dozens or more turned away! At the previous one, the realtor closed it down himself shortly after tenants arrived. On Sunday, July 31, the campaign to close TIC Open Houses will broaden as we will seek to simultaneously shut down Open Houses all over the city. Meet at the SF Tenants Union, 558 Capp St at 12 Noon on July 31. We'll have food and refreshments and then fan out to open houses all around the city.
This campaign is focused on alerting potential buyers that tenants were evicted and that the city has begun enforcing a provision in the subdivision law which prohibits condo conversions following evictions. Because TICs are such a risky form of ownership, they must convert to condos as soon as possible. If they can't convert to condos, there will be no market for TICs. If there's no market for TICs, there's no more Ellis evictions.
