ACTION UPDATE!
Tonight's rally & protest of Natali closing the Pendulum and laying off its staff.
When: 8:45pm sharp tonight
Where: LYRIC (127 Collingwood), then the Pendulum (4146 18th Street)
What: Join with African American and LGBT community leaders in protesting the
closing of the Pendulum by Les Natali, the owner of SFBadlands found by the City to
have discriminated against African Americans. There will be a press conference
followed by picketing in front of SFBadlands.
KRON-4 will be covering the event live at 9pm, so please arrive by 8:45pm!
Last week, Natali said he was selling the Pendulum; this week, he fired its staff
and closed the bar. What will Natali do next? Isn't time the City and State enforced
penalties against him for discrimination at Badlands?
See you at 8:45 tonight!

You know I sure am confused about this groups "AndCastroforall" agenda.
Seems they don't like Les Natali, BUT they protest when he actually closes one of his businesses. I thought it would be good thing he is closing a bar. Now maybe that place can be opened and turned into Lesbian or Tranny club.
The group I mentioned above should claim a stance thats makes sense.

Give it a rest. Your 15 minutes are up, honey.
The P needs to be closed and renovated. It's a toilet, with gum from the 1970s still stuck to the benches. Interesting how that Natali no longer own it, the usual suspects are "demanding" that "someone" do something about it. All talk and no action, folks. The new owner will need to modernize the place, so that it can attract a new crowd and earn some money. That new crowd will probably not be the usual suspects. Sorry, but some of us would like a place that caters to mainstream people, not drug addicts and their detritus.
Yes and hopefully a new place will attract other people who identify under the GLBT spectrum. Like trannies or lesbians.....

Badlands should maybe become a Lesbian and Tranny bar, but the Pendulum is one of the few places African-American Gay men socialize at in Bay Area and the only one in the Castro. That needs to be respected to. And the writer who wrote that the Pendulum is full of drug addicts is just a racist and probably thinks that most or all Black people are addicts. And beside s, i know for a fact that that's not true. The Pendulum gets a mixture of African American gay men including a few Black GUPpies (that's gay YUPpies for those who don't know).
