Diverse Anti-Racist Coalition Confronts, Disrupts the MinuteMen in California

The California MinuteMen started their operations in Campo, California, one hour east of San Diego on July 16th. They were confronted, disrupted and chased away by a diverse coalition of organizations from San Diego, Los Angeles, Mexico, Portland and many other cities. The Anti-MinuteMen, No Border camp was set up in the desert scrub of Campo, just feet away from the Border Fence. From this base, anti-racists marched to the MinuteMan camps, only to find they had left to avoid the confrontation. From this spot activists intervened in press events the MinuteMen tried to have at the crest of the Pacific Crest Trail, just feet away from our campsite. People also made their presence felt to every MinuteMan car that entered the area, as our camp was just next to the main access road. Camp attendees posted their stories on San Diego Indymedia from the temporary Desert Media Center which was set up onsite.
On July 16th, the camp was joined by over 150 people from around the state and around the country. This larger group marched to the site of the planned MinuteMan meeting, only to find that it had been moved to an unknown location due to pressure. Later in the day, anti-racists and MinuteMen alike were forced out of their campsites by a brush fire. This gave the anti-racist organizers an opportunity to confront the MinuteMen at their regrouping point, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Building in Campo, for an intense face to face standoff that was only stopped by police intervention after the MinuteMen retreated into the building. Throughout the night disruption techniques were used to sabotage the MinuteMan patrols, which were met with threats that they would shoot. The camp continued until Monday and actions will continue day and night until the MinuteMen leave Campo. On Sunday night the corporate media reported that the MinuteMen had given up after only one day, but later corrected that statement.

Don’t you think that it has been proven beyond a shadow of a doubt that the Minuteman org went to extraordinary means to weed out racists from there ranks, including psychological testing, (they even did FBI background checks). I hardly think your criticism of the Minutemen outweighs the damage that the flood of illegal immigrants is doing to the U.S.
The facts are plainly evident and readily available on about a billion web sites.

No. Psych tests could not show racism, and the FBI background checks are probably to prevent infiltration by anti-racists. Who does the FBI have more files on if not radical? The FBI itslef has with a few minor exceptions to suppoprt racism.

Also, our society has used Psych testing to discriminate against numerous subcultures in American: black school children, women, gays why would you think it can’t be used to discriminate against overt racists. Ans I think you are overusing the term racist/racism to cover anyone who wishes to enforce our laws, (or be patriotic, who believes in capitalism or supports this government, etc.) especially when that enforcement involve a minority. The minutemen are not LOOKING for Mexicans Arabs or nonwhites. They are looking for people BREAKING the law by entering the U.S. ILLEGALLY. Key word ILLEGALLY. I will concede one point "Capitalism and government are the root of our problem": Because we have it and they don’t. Our capitalism and government provides us with jobs, social security, unemployment insurance, workmen’s comp, education, medical care(even if we don’t have insurance). While the Mexican government, as well as many others, provides there people with a map on how to negotiate a extremely dangerous desert, avoid border patrols, and how to wire money back home once they have made it, to help prop up there silly corrupt governments.
