ACT NOW: Stop Racism on Bay Area Radio

WILD 94.9 HIRES PRODUCER OF RACIST ‘TSUNAMI SONG’:
'Screaming Chinks', 'Africans Drowning', 'Little Chinamen'

This Spring, Rick Delgado was fired from HOT 97 in New York for producing and airing an explicitly anti-Asian and racist song about tsunami victims. Now Clear Channel has hired Delgado to produce the morning show at local hip hop station Wild 94.9. He started work Monday July 11th.

Two years ago, when Michael Savage was fired from MSNBC for his virulently racist and anti-gay remarks, Clear Channel's 910am KNEW in the Bay Area picked him up.

TAKE ACTION:
Join with us in standing against hate in the Bay Area:
Don't let Clear Channel import racism from around the
country and push it on our community's airwaves!

Subject: NO to Hate Radio

I am a community member outraged that Clear Channel continues to promote racist shock jocks like Rick Delgado. He is the wrong choice for the Bay Area.

As a diverse urban community, we demand less hate radio and more media in the public interest. Emmis Communications did the right thing by firing Rick Delgado. I demand that Clear Channel do the same.

I know that Clear Channel’s broadcast license is up for renewal this Fall. If Clear Channel continues its pattern of corporate irresponsibility I’ll be joining thousands of others to demand the FCC revoke your license to abuse our public airwaves.

Sincerely,

In case you wanted to be able to find him on the street and offer a few choice words.
by Fed Up With Sticker Pollution In SF
What does Corporate Clear Channel's WILD 94.9 Give San Francisco?

Trash Noise: McMusic.

Trash Talk: The airwaves aleady has enough of that and San Francisco doesn't need any of it.

Trash Trash: I am sick of seeing my South of Market neighborhood all stickered up with Wild 94.9 stickers. Guess Clear Channel can't be fined for the pollution because they simply print 'em and give 'em away to stupid kids who plaster them everywhere thinking they are making some "revolutionary" statement.

You can bet clear Channel and 94.9 have plenty of lawyers to help them get away with anything they want: but the fact remains:

Clear Channel is bad for San Francisco. To save a few mil it even shook off Dusty Baker. Clear Channel is all about making the most bucks for the least cost. If you buy into it, you are only a Sucker.

last night as i was coming home from work i found several 94.9 posters attached to fences in my neighborhood. i took 2 minutes out of my life to tear them down.

and i will be tearing down or painting over any and all 94.9 promotional material that i find until this person is fired. any 94.9 vehicles will also be targeted and destroyed.

it should be supremely obvious to even you self-congratulatory SF wimps that email campaigns will not work on a management that cynically hires a producer who was fired for obvious racism in NYC.

direct action gets the goods.

the ONLY thing 94.9 understand is money. therefore, this move will cost them greatly. those vans are expensive, and they WILL have to start replacing them soon. 94.9 sponsored events will also be shut down.

you hired the wrong person and you've pissed off the wrong activist. and your plan to get publicity by pissing off SF liberals is about to backfire - bigtime.

it would be supremely funny to watch them drown.

glad someone posted his pic. it will be useful.

ok first off, i would like to state that yes there is such thing as freedom of speech, but to place comments about others misfortunes, especially the loss of life means that he has gone to far. Me being Chinese is another reason why this is offensive. I am going as far as to say that if i were to make a song stateing that whatever nationality he is should die, and that its funny cause his people were killed because a earthquake, im sure people would hate me as well.

I agree with what most people have posted on here but i feel disturbed that when Rapper Kanye West made such a horrible alligation towards our president about slow relief effort towards the victims of Hurricane Katrina, everyone simply concluded that it was freedom of speech. when compared to this situation i feel they both have freedom of speech to say anything they like but are both wrong for there horrible words. By the way, Kanye West was almost applauded for his remarks...

Hello everybody,
I am trying to get out the word that Rick Delgado has made comments on the radio making fun of deaf people. He made fun of miss deaf texas Tara McAvoy,a deaf girl who was killed by a train when she did not hear the train.
Please support the deaf community and voice your outrage and have him fired!
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
