[ Notes by SUN:

(A) Getting there: Start from downtown SF,
on 2nd St. at Stevenson
( alley between Market & Mission).
Take Muni bus #15, outbound (going east & south).
Get off bus on 3rd St. at 24th.
Walk east, toward the water. Look for freeks.

(B) Was "Toxic Beach" formerly known as "Tire Beach"?
If so, don't expect it to look much like a beach.
And don't expect to find either nickname on maps.
As locations go, "alternative" is an understatement....

(C) Leaflet doesn't mention cost.
Presumably free, perhaps with donations accepted?

History of QUEER NATION:
please see
Bay Area Reporter, 30 June 2005, page10.
...
QN invents "the Suburban Homosexual Outreach Project [SHOP] (same-sex kiss-ins at shopping malls)
and Queer Nights Out (invasions of straight bars and other venues)."
QN generally accepts bi and trans people, and tries to include all colors and classes.
By 1993, the "radical activism of ACT UP, Queer Nation, and the Lesbian Avengers" declines.
"But Queer Nation nevertheless made a lasting impact on the movement," writes queerstorian Liz Highleyman. "The once-shocking term 'queer' has become de rigueur, and many gay and lesbian groups now include bisexual and transgender people as a matter of course."
