3. Don't forget AR 2005 next weekend!

1. National (Soy) Ice Cream Day Events
"I scream, you scream, we all scream, for SOY ice cream!" Yep, it's that time of year again. The summer is heating up, and it's time to show the public how to beat the heat without causing the suffering of other animals. Our delicious soy ice cream giveaways on National Ice Cream Day (Sunday, July 17) are always a huge success! Our volunteers prove that dairy-free ice cream is perfect for cooling off on a hot summer day--without causing cows to suffer for our pleasure. As part of our ongoing campaign to convince Ben & Jerry's to carry a vegan ice cream, we team up with Soy Delicious to provide Viva!USA literature on the cruelty inherent in the dairy industry, our dairy investigation video, Soy Delicious coupons for free Soy Delicious soy ice cream products (for the event) as well as coupons to pass out. You can check out testimonials from past participants and get tips on organizing a soy ice cream giveaway at: http://www.vivausa.org/campaigns/dairy/servingicecream.html

If you would like to be involved in our National (Soy) Ice Cream Day Events, please send an e-mail to info@vivausa.org with "Soy Ice Cream Day" in the subject line. Include your name, your group's name (if you have one), and a valid mailing address. Also, please let us know if we can provide your contact information to others in your area who might be interested in participating.

2. Adidas: 0, Kangaroos: 4
Adidas didn't know what it was getting into when it began the battle to change California law outlawing the sale of products made from kangaroos! The most recent Adidas-supported bill passed the CA Assembly, but died in CA Senate Natural Resources Committee. This is the fourth time a bill specifically aimed at making the sale of kangaroo products legal has been defeated! Testimony from Viva!USA and other animal groups helped stop the bill in its tracks, but we know it will be back next session. Because the vote was close this past session, we need to be ready next time to ensure it doesn't pass!

To stay informed about this bill, join our kangaroo e-mail list. Send an email to roos@vivausa.org with "subscribe" in the subject line to get updates when the bill comes up again.

3. Don't forget AR 2005 next weekend!
AR2005 begins this coming Thursday in Los Angeles. If you have not yet registered, there is still time to sign up! The conference features speakers, workshops, exhibits, orientations and more. And of course, tasty vegan treats and goodies are also available. It's a great opportunity to learn more about the AR movement and network with like-minded people.

The conference runs from July 7th to the 11th, including post-conference activities designed to put theory into action. To learn more about the conference schedule, speakers and activities, go to www.AR2005.org. Registration is available online.
