disclose spying on anti-war groups at Capitol
The Green Party has placed its second call for an immediate probe of the California National Guard after e-mails reveal efforts to gather intelligence on California residents. The National Guard has admitted to establishing a new unit for the purpose of spying on California residents, particularly those involved in peace activities. The Green Party has called on Legislature to start an immediate investigation. The news release states, "These kind of activities by the military - tracking civilians' constitutionally-protected activities - are illegal under the 1878 Posse Comitatus Act, which prevents the U.S. military from participating in domestic law enforcement."
