Labor Contingent at SF Pride
by Labor Contingent
Tuesday Jun 21st, 2005 11:24 AM
Come look for us in the assembly area Sunday
morning - we start at 10:00am, on Spear St, between Howard & Folsom. You can't
miss us - we'll be in a cable car!* So, bring your banners, wear your colorful
best (where else can you wear those snazzy union T's?), and don't forget
your sun gear!
> Stand UP - Stand OUT - Stand PROUD! [this year's theme]
>
> Sisters & brothers,
> Please join us for a weekend of PRIDE! As has been our practice
in the
> past, we'll be marching on Sunday, as well as having a booth in the
Civic
> Center [on both Saturday AND Sunday]. If want to do more than just
watch this
> year's parade, c'mon on down! The labor contingent this year will
include
> members of:
>
> - S.F. Labor Council
> - UNITE HERE Local 2
> - UFW [high-kicking off their Gallo boycott to the rest of the
community]
> - UFCW
> - SEIU Locals 790, 1000, 1877 & United Heathcare Workers (UHW)
> - Healthcare For All
> - Harvey Milk LGBT Dem. Club
> - and many, many more!
>
> We'll be marching along with the folks from EQCA & Marriage Equality
to show
> our deep support. Come look for us in the assembly area Sunday

of
> getting a seat on board [but know that once you're seated, and the
parade
> begins, you can't leave the cable car until the end of the parade...]
- but
> volunteers will likely get the highest priority, sabes?
> We can always use more volunteers in our booth, so if you have
some time
> to spare - or could use the opportunity to rest your dance- [or
march-] weary
> tootsies - please give Sister Sally a call [(415) 254-4916] to see
about

> participation in this year's festivities. (And if you've already been
> 'Monitor' trained** this year, we would LOVE to have you help monitor
our
> contingent! Again, give Sister Sally a jingle.)
> Thank you for your time and attention in reading this - I look
forward to
> seeing you all sometime this weekend!

> SF/PAW Co-Chair
>
> *generously sponsored by the Firefighters, UHW-West, SEIU Local 1000,
& the
> S.F. Labor Council
> **It ISN'T too late! There are combined safety/monitor trainings
happening
