When I worked at the Presidio I helped the gays with the AIDS ride. Gave them all the facilities and saved them thousands.

I also sponsor a couple of my gay friends that ride in the AIDS ride and have been doing that since 1995.

I will be there at the Pride Parade and will be cheering UTOPIA they all know me. In fact a Polynesian will be the Grand Marshal this year.

So please do not think that I know nothing about queer folks, have no queer friends, and do not talk and visit them. As I said I have thousands of queer friends all over the world. I have gone out of my way to defend and help queer folks. How ever I will call a spade a spade - and do not give a rat ass for a few bitches that know not what I am all about.

Again be man enough to talk about environmental issues and queer issues. And again I am friends with Mark Leno but not Bevan Dufty. Harry Britt is fine but not Bevan Dufty. Harvey Milk was great but not Bevan Dufty.

Francisco I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and respond here because I detect some sincerity from your post that your intentions are well meant. So I'll respond, though I have some skepticism about doing so.

I went to read your webpage because of the environmental justice issue. Though I'm not invovled in any such issue at the moment I have protested against waste incineration in East Oakland and Cheveron Oil refinery in Richmond, so I hope you can give me the benefit of the doubt that I would like supportive of environmental justice in HP.

I'll just say bluntly that anybody that calls Gays "perverts" (in the negative sense of the word) instantly goes into my book as a Gay Hater. I'm not going to debate the point-- ignore me-- curse me-- simply that's how I and many others are going to understand it. It closes my mind to anything you have to say on any other issue. Also saying you have gay friends doesn't mean much and in fact in sounds quite similiar to when white people say their best friend is black as a cover for some of their own racism.

I don't like Bevan Duffy either. Debating how resources are spent in SF, including AIDS programs is legitimate. Criticizing irresponsible sexual behavior (regardless of whether they're straight or gay) is legitimate. However using anti-gay slurs makes me absolutely turned off to listening to you. I don't really want to argue anymore-- I'll just say that other readers here should look at your website and decide whats relevant. I do suggest however, Francisco, that you explore this issue deeper with some of your gay friends. Peace.
