Public Forum with Iraqi Oil Union Leaders
Sunday, June 19th 2005 6:45-9 PM
Berkeley, California
Two officers of the General Union of Oil Workers (GUOW) in Basrah will visit the Bay Area at the invitation of U.S. Labor Against the War.
Learn what the occupation has meant for Iraq’s working people and labor movement.
Learn how the U.S. continues to enforce Saddam Hussein’s 1987 law banning unions for a majority of Iraqi workers.
Learn how workers have successfully resisted privatization of Iraqi workplaces.
Learn why the GUOW calls for immediate withdrawal of all occupation forces and for dismantling all military bases.
Find out what you can do to support these courageous workers and help Iraqis to build a sovereign, democratic Iraq ruled in the interests of all the Iraqi people.
Find out what you can do to end the occupation, to bring all U.S. troops safely home, and to invest our resources in meeting human needs.
