Four Bay Area experts will discuss the current status of immigration and immigrants on Wednesday, July 6, 7:30 PM, at the First United Methodist Church, 9 Ross Valley Drive (at Fourth Street), San Rafael.


Topics will cover current national legislation, such as the Real ID Act and free trade policies; immigration reform efforts; why people try so hard to come to the United States and what they go through to get here; and the experiences of immigrants in Marin County. Panelists will include Tom Wilson, co-executive director, Canal Alliance; Alyssa Simpson, immigration lawyer, Canal Alliance; Douglas Mundo, director, Canal Welcome Center; and Edgar Ayala from the National Alliance of Latin American and Caribbean Communities, a convergence of immigrant advocacy organizations. Spanish translation will be available upon request.
