Pier 98 is a toxic dump. Also know as Heron's Head Park.
Heron's Head Park is a toxic dump. One a pier that fell into disrepair - dredge radiological material and other very toxic materials were dumped freely at Pier 98. Stuff like old tires, lead paint, chrome wastes, asbestos besides tons of old construction material from all over the Bay Area.
Heron's Head Park is a toxic dump. It lies 50 feet away from the most toxic power plant - Hunters Point power plant. Daily the whole area and that includes Heron's Head Park is being polluted. PM-10 and over 40 toxins some 60 tons yearly spew freely and settle around Heron's Head Park. When it rains most of it falls on Pier 98 which is also known as Heron's Head Park. One environmental group purports to have taken over 6000 people including young children to Heron's Head Park. Mayor Gavin Newsom and Jared Blumenfeld from San Francisco Environment have given there blessing and money to one dubious environmental group. Its director who lives in Oakland - Dana Reid Lanza. We, in San Francisco just celebrated World Environment Day (WED). Wake up environmentalists and stop innocent children from being taken to this toxic dump.
Once there were pristine wetlands, marshlands, and other lands none of which suffered pollution. The First People of San Francisco the Muwekma Ohlone understand this. I do because I represent them. Let us not take our children to toxic dumps and expose them to toxins. Let us not adversely impact the health of our children, youth, and the public in general. It is wrong to go to any cesspool. It is wrong to expose oneself to PM-10, asbestos, lead, mercury, and other hazardous materials. Pier 98 comes under the jurisdiction of the San Francisco Port Authority. One Carol Bach is responsible to uphold standards. She is responsible to be Accoutable and Transparent.
Once I told her that Pier 92 contained over 20 tons of toxic soil. She defied me. The SF Port Authority was mandated by the Department of Toxic Substances and Control to clean the area. At a cost of $ 1 million - yes one million. This time if the SF Port Authority does not listen - it will be sued for exposing thousands to toxins and adversely impacting their health. Dana Lanza be warned. Money and Greed should not prevail over the health and well being of our youth and innocent children.
