What: Meet the Author Program/South Asia
Event: Among US allies in the war against terrorism, Pakistan cannot be easily characterized as either friend or foe. In Husain Haqqani's book Pakistan, he analyzes the origins of the relationships between Islamist groups and Pakistan's military, and explores Pakistan's quest for identity and security. Haqqani traces how the Pakistan military has sought US support by making itself useful for immediate concerns while continuing to strengthen the mosque-military alliance within Pakistan. Cosponsored by Stacey's Independent Bookstore.
