|SF CIty Hall steps|
|Event Type||Press Conference|
SF Supervisors, led by Ross Mirkarimi, and their constituents, the patients and
supports of MMJ in SF, will be holding a press conference on SF CIty Hall steps to
announce their resolution calling on SF's own minority leader, Nancy Pelosi, to step
up her considerable efforts so far in support of patients' rights, and openly whip
the democratic vote planned tomorrow on the Hinchey amendment to defund DEA attacks
and DOJ prosecutions of state-legal medical marijuana activitiy. Please come and
show your support and solidarity!
When: 10 am, Tuesday, June 14
What: Press conference to announce resolution showing support for Pelosi to
encourage all house democrats to vote YES on Hinchey, to prevent any federal attacks
on state-legal patients.
Who: Co-sponsoring supervisors and YOU - the affected community!
Why: Reps Hinchey and Rohrabacher will be introducing an amendment to H.R. 2862
- a Department of Justice budget bill, that would not allow them to use their funds
to arrest, prosecute or imprison state-legfal medical marijuana patients or
caregivers. We need to show that SF supports every effort to do so by our elected
officials. Nancy pelosi voted hte right way last year, and leveraged a number of
votes, we want her to know she has the support to step it up a notch.
