A look at the practices and beliefs of Palo Mayombe, a Cubanised form of indigenous Congolese religious practice." In this class we will discuss Palo Mayombe. We will discuss the different traditions or Ramas and some of the differences between them. We will discuss the main "deities" or the Nkisi and their functions and temperaments. We will discuss some of the rites and spells of Palo Mayombe. The last class will be a wrap up and a practical demonstration in the form of a Misa Espiritual.
This class will be held every Wednesday through July 6th 8-9pm.
Bio: Thomas Albin is an initiated priest of Palo Mayombe.
This class is part of a Free School that has recently started in the East Bay.
