Defeat Anti-Labor Nazi Schwarzenegger in November
The propositions that will be on this $80 million election's ballot are listed at the Secretary of State's website at:
http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/elections_j.htm#NextStatewide
The Nazi initiatives are:
#1067 Parental notice to terminate a minor's pregnancy. AS (the gov's initials) did not put this on the ballot, but it is as reactionary as he is and deserves your no vote.
#1088 Public School Teachers. Waiting period for tenure. We are lucky college educated people are willing to teach in our grossly inadequate schools, with insufficient supplies and books, broken facilities and children who come to school with all kinds of social problems, all for very low pay. The least we can do is give them some job security. This is obviously attack on a gain won by labor, namely the existence of the public schools, and thus deserves your no vote.
#1084 Public Employee Union Dues. While most of us would prefer the labor unions stop giving any money to the Democrats or Republicans, and instead give to socialist and green parties, this is not the goal of this initiative. The goal of this initiative is to destroy any labor political power whatsoever and deserves your no vote.
#1131 School funding, changing Prop 98 which labor fought for. This deserves your no vote.
#1072 Phony reapportionment, to attempt to give more districts to Republicans. This deserves your no vote.
So far, it is a Bingo No ballot for the state. Labor had some initatives circulating, but they may not appear until the June 2006 governor's primary.
IT IS BARRICADES TIME FOR EVERYONE WHO CARES ABOUT LABOR.
1. If you are not registered to vote, please do so. It is the ballot propostions on every ballot that are the best reason to vote in every election. If you wish to choose a party, the socialist Peace & Freedom Party is the best; the Greens are second . Go to your County Registrar's office or call them and ask for a voter registration form. The Secretary of State's voter registration forms are at:
http://www.ss.ca.gov/elections/elections_vr.htm
In San Francisco, the website is:

The forms are at:

2. WE MUST MAXIMIZE TURNOUT. 12 million people voted in November 2004's high voter turnout presidential general election in California, out of 27 million adults. In this special election, we will not have 12 million, but we must do our best to come close to that figure to win as most of the non-voters are the workingclass, primarily the poorest members of the workingclass. That means we will have to identify our supporters early, make sure they are registered to vote, and push them to the polls on election day. It can be done and has been done. A few years ago, there was an anti-labor initiative in a primary, and we defeated it, with primarily the less populated Northern California counties, because we pushed all our supporters to the polls.
3. ANYONE CAN HELP CAMPAIGN. You do not have to be a voter or an adult to help campaign. There will be phone banks, envelope stuffing, precinct walking, sidewalk tabling, postering and all the other activities that constitute a campaign. We need not only the English-speaking community; we certainly need the Spanish-speaking community, the Cantonese-language community and all other language-communities to help us get out the vote. All you teenagers can help with the physical labor aspects, the precinct walking and tabling. Those of us whose legs wore out already can always talk on the phones, stuff envelopes, put together campaign packets, put polling place stickers on doorhangers and the like.
4. NOW IS THE TIME. We cannot and will not wait until Labor Day, the first day in September. By then, we should have identified our supporters and registered lots of voters. September is the month we must do most of our campaigning because vote by mail or absentee starts October 11, 2005.
5. VOTING STARTS October 11, 2005, 29 days before the November 8, 2005 election. At least 1/3 third of the voters will vote absentee, or by mail. I suggest you sign up to be a permanent absentee voter, which anyone can do, by downloading the forms on the above websites. That way you will not forget to vote.
It is going to be a very tough, bitter campaign that we must win. If everyone helps in any way they can, we will win. Stay tuned for updates or call your Central Labor Council in a month or so. We expect every Central Labor Council for all 58 counties to be providing the necessary leadership to defeat these Nazi initiatives.
Who do you think you are fooling, "Steve". How much does anyone want to bet that Steve is not in any union. Funny how there are so many Republicans not in any union who are so concerned about fighting for "choice" for union members. I don't remember "Steve" or any other right-wing nut job screaming about how corporate stockholders are not consulted before the corporations pour billions into PACs and political campaigns to advance corporate interests. How about the "choice" of those of us who have our retirement savings used without our consent by the corporations our money is invested in to fund political attacks on our rights?
This has nothing to do with "choice" and has everything to do with the one-sided class war being waged in this country against workers. Republicans are in an all-out offensive to strip working people of all democratic rights and consolidate a completely unbridled corporate dictatorship (while Democrats wet themselves and run for cover). It's the same with the efforts to strip people of their rights to file lawsuits. They claim they just want to stop "frivolous" lawsuits. But most "frivolous" lawsuits are filed by corporations against competitors. No Republican is trying to stop those; just those by individuals seeking justice against corporate criminals.
You're not fooling anyone, "Steve".
