We’re Going to Hold Yet Another Abusive Employer Responsible Want to Join Us? This time the worker is a domestic worker, Dominga Lugo. She worked for a housecleaning company for over ten years and was subjected to widespread abuse including working without pay, receiving regular immigration related threats, working with pure bleach and being forced to clean on her knees without protective equipment, working without breaks, traveling from one clients house to another in dangerous vehicles that would break down and explode, having her tips stolen, etc. etc. etc. Although Dominga has a wage claims for thousands of dollars, her main goal in bringing the case is to improve conditions for the current workers who she believes are subjected to the same abuse. We have talked to one other former worker of the same company who confirms that she too suffered the abuse. So please join us to tell this employer that she will no longer get away with exploiting, harassing, and violating the rights of these workers. We will also be passing out know your rights information to the current workers as they enter the workplace. When: Wednesday June 8, 2005 Where: Menlo Park Time: We are meeting at La Raza Centro Legal, 474 Valencia Street, Suite 295 at 5:45 a.m. – uggg, I know…and will be driving other domestic workers and day laborers to the picket/press conference in Menlo Park. Please e-mail me if you can drive or would like to participate and I’ll give you the exact directions. We could also use breakfast donations – coffee, donuts, etc. Thanks so much!
