Environmental Dog and Pony Shows.

by Francisco Da Costa (frandacosta [at] att.net)
The Dog and Pony Shows continue and it is the same people with ties to the Policy Makers that are trying to fool the innocent people. Nothing much has changed with the policy makers - they still continue to pollute and have nothing to much to offer to the real world of LESS pollution and RESPECT for Mother Earth..
San Francisco is the City that knows how but the pitty is that today we have SPIN Gurus the likes of Jared Blumenfeld and Mayor Gavin Newsom that have nothing much to offer in terms of Truth and Action that benefits the constituents of San Francisco and the Bay Area. More in terms of the Environment. At the Metreon and at Lower Fort Mason the Dog and Pony Shows continue. You see very little diversity and People of Color are shut out. Al Gore came to town - so what is the big deal - the man tried to convince us he had something to do with the Internet - in fact he had nothing to do with the Cyberspace technology at all. When he was in power nothing much was attained on the International level in terms of the Environment.. The United States is the worst when it comes to polluting. We even walked out of Environmental Summits with Naitons booing us for not having the courage to respect Mother Earth. We really do not want people talking down to us in San Francisco - we want to stop pollution, the arms race and everything that disrespects Mother Earth. Today over $1 trillion arms are sold - more arms then were sold during the Cold War. Today, we have Nuclear Missiles ready to go when all of them should be disarmed. Today, Superpowers use their Veto Power at the United Nations to keep poorer Nations down. It is a shame what happened in Rwanda and it is a greater shame what is happening today in Darfur. San Francisco did not have the balls to send $100,000 for the Tsunami Relief. We have a $5 Billion budget. All of San Francisco was stolen from the First People - the Muwekma Ohlone. Today, San Francisco with its Mayor Gavin Newsom and the Board of Supervisor are pushing for building thousands of homes. They have NO plan where the raw sewage will go and what will be the impact. They have NO plan where they will get the Energy from. They have a $100 million Solar bond measure that should have gone into affect 2 years ago - it has not. Jared Blumenfeld wants this money - more for administrative uses then to better our Energy uses and standing. Right now we have to have our Transmission Lines in place. The Jefferson-Martin by 2006. The Potrero-Hunters Point - Mission by 2008. The Pittsburg-Potrero under the Bay by 2011. We really do not need the two toxic spewing power plants nor the proposed 3 Combustion Turbines that Mayor Gavin Newsom, Jared Blumenfeld, Susan Leal, Karen Kubick, Barbara Hale and a host of cronies want to placed nearer the Bayview Hunters Point area. Our children are dying. Our Health Department and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) are supposed to enforce pollution laws and clean up areas. The last time any empirical data was collected was in 1990. We now have laws to enforce but the EPA, the City, other Federal and State Agencies are doing nothing. We have crooks like Doctor Rajiv Bhatia who is a disgrace to his profession. So called Environmental Advocates should go picket the San Francisco Health Department, the EPA, the DTSC, the Mayor and the Board of Supervisors. I have never ever seen those that have time to scream and shout - tell the SF Board of Supervisors that they have blood on their hands. Our children are dying all over the City and County of San Francisco. Particulate Traps that should have been placed on our MUNI buses have not been placed. We do not have a sound Transportation Document. We do not have a sound Housing Element. Gavin Newsom talks the talk but cannot walk the walk. The Dog and Pony shows will end soon. I want to see action and see it so that it benefits our children and our youth. PG&E has given San Francisco Enivironment over $100,000 for World Environment Day (WED) - one does not take BLOOD MONEY if one is honest and true to the principles of sound Ethics. Green Action has taken over $200,000 from San Francisco Environment and has blood on its hands. You cannot sleep with crooks and show case actions from the blood money. Anyone can shout at a building - anyone can put down PG&E. I have not seen you at the Stakeholders Meeting and I challenge you to be there on June 10 at 77 Beale with solutions. You have people that cannot write and have others writing for them on issues concerning the Bayview - this is wrong. I write my own stuff - with or without spelling mistakes and poor grammar. I do not give a rat ass when it comes to calling a spade and spade and going after the crooks. Environmentalists cannot succeed if they are in bed with SFE, PG&E, and other crooks that have helped DISRESPECT Mother Earth.

can you elaborate on this? Or was this just an unsubstantiated allegation that you can't back up.???

Why not break up the long commentary into paragraphs and make it a bit easier on the eyes?

It's difficult to scan across the screen and keep track.

Please re-format with some space in between paragraphs so we can get a better sense of the good points you are trying to make.

please ...

It's also worth noting that the W.E.D. protest at the SF Civic Center Saturday 6/4 was incredibly tiny for such an important event. There were barely 200 people there, half of whom were speakers, media, or members of the organizing coalition. There seemed to be very little promotion to the general public. This should have been a rally of on par with the counter-inagural protests where 5 -10,000 people showed up.

It was inspiring to hear folks who'd come from Arizona and Alaska but they were speaking to a handful of people. They should have been speaking to the folks at the UN event and many more people should have been in SF at this historic moment.
One reason there weren't many protesters down at the UN talkfest was that many people thought that more people would make it look like they were supporting the UN liberals. Not a single tree was stopped from being cut or a single ounce of pollution was stopped from being sent into the air or water by any official WED event this week and that could be said for most of the alternative events as well. The way liberals work is the oppostion gets drawn into to being the "official opposition", a way to support the system. Most real environmentalists know this. Their important work is in the forest like Earth First!, in the communites like many others, and even in sabotage like the Earth Liberation Front, not in or even in front of worthless propaganda pieces for the system like the UN WED conference.

they are racist (by supporting severe immigration reform that is backed up by the likes of the MM Project, The Governator Prop 187 and Pete Wilson) and often show ignorance and disregard for the red ways.

Leave it up to the REAL keepers of these lands!

If you seriously despise what's happening to our mother, then start with your EUROPEAN ancestors and take it from there. The "United States" is the most polluting country in the world. In a place of heavy consumerism and waste, gee I wonder why...
