AR Programming Proposal To KPFA * Update & Action *
AR PROGRAMMING PROPOSAL TO KPFA * UPDATE & ACTION *
UPDATE
In February of this year a proposal was submitted to KPFA, Berkeley, to produce a show on Animal Rights and Social Consciousness called “Watchdog” with host Karen Dawn.
This past week in a voicemail exchange between myself and the Interim Program Coordinator, I was provided the following points regarding the proposal’s status:
€ The Program Council has not had a chance to do anything yet with our proposal.
€ The proposal is languishing until they have some potential for air time.
€ If the proposal “passes” and the Program Council were to recommend the show there is currently no time slot available.
€ Without any available air time there is no way they can say when the show could actually go on.
€ They do not see any air time coming up for at least 6 months to allot for a new show.
€ They “cannot believe how many emails” have come in regarding Animal Rights programming.
€ They are just waiting to see when they will have some open time and when that does occur they will be able to really look at the proposal and see about putting it in rotation.
ACTIONS
1) SIGN THE PETITION TO KPFA
http://www.ipetitions.com/campaigns/ANIMAL-RIGHTS-RADIO/
Let KPFA know how many of us need animal rights programming and news coverage on KPFA. Please sign the petition at the link above and circulate to those you know who also support efforts to free animals from exploitation, abuse and torture by humans. We currently have approximately 380 signatures and would like at least 800 before we submit them as an addendum to our proposal.
2) KEEP THOSE POLITE REQUESTS FOR ANIMAL RIGHTS PROGRAMMING AND NEWS COVERAGE COMING!
Let KPFA know how we suffer not only for the animals in misery but for the lack of conversation in society about it; how anthropocentrism kills. Send encouraging requests for AR programming and AR news coverage to:
