Update on PBS documentary " Emotional World of Farm Animals" - only in Los Angeles for now
DawnWatch: Update on documentary " Emotional World of Farm Animals" Los Angeles 6/2/05
Though the documentary "The Emotional World of Farm Animals" is expected to air on PBS across the USA, apparently it is airing tonight, Thursday June 2, only in the Los Angeles market. (It is on at 9pm on KLCS, which for many is Channel 58, but please check.) I apologize for the confusion.
Angelenos should thank KLCS, with a quick note to info [at] klcs.pbs.org. Also, loads of positive feedback sent to PBS via http://www.pbs.org/aboutsite/aboutsite_emailform.html could encourage the network to air the show nationally, so please send comments to the network. Those outside of Los Angeles should definitely request that their local PBS station air the documentary, and might also want to post comments at the general PBS feedback site recommending the show be aired nationally.
I do not know if there are plans to air it in other countries. Animal advocates might want to follow up with the appropriate stations.
Meanwhile, it can be ordered from Animal Place at http://www.animalplace.org/apvideo.html
Below is that site's description of the video:
"The Emotional World of Farm Animals is a delightful documentary for viewers of all ages about the thinking and feeling side of animals that are all too often just viewed as food. Jeffrey Masson, author of When Elephants Weep and Dogs Never Lie About Love, leads viewers through the personal journey he underwent while writing his latest book, 'The Pig Who Sang to The Moon.' This journey into the sentient, emotional lives of farm animals brings Masson to animal sanctuaries around the country where caregivers and the animals themselves tell their harrowing stories of rescue and escape . Masson delves into the rich ancestry of these curious and intelligent animals and interviews top experts in animal behavior who offer scientific perspectives on these amazing creatures."
Also, you can buy the book, "The Pig Who Sang to the Moon: The Emotional World of Farm Animals" at http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0345452828/dawnwatch/104-2138842-3595169 OR http://tinyurl.com/94mg5
