In Losing Iraq, David Phillips, former senior advisor to the US Department of State, provides an insider's story on why plans for a peaceful transition to a democratic Iraq after Saddam Hussein went so far astray. He documents Iraq's political transition and criticizes the Bush administration's lack of decisiveness in returning sovereignty to the Iraqis.
