Brief Description of Event: Anti-Americanism has grown very sharply since the Fall of 2002 and has stayed at historic highs more than a year after the President declared the official end of the war in Iraq. Furthermore, anti-Americanism is marked by ambivalence. Foreigners make distinctions, for example, between the US government and its policies and the American people, and between different aspects of America. This ambivalence contradicts the assertion that the world is filled with an irrational hate of things American, America, and Americans.
