Americans for Safe Access
Medical Marijuana Spokesperson Training
Learn medical marijuana lobbying and media tactics!
When: Monday, June 6th from 6-9pm
Where: Mendocino Environmental Center
106 West Standley, Ukiah
Who: Patients and advocates interested in protecting the right to grow
and use medical marijuana in their communities.
Why: The cities of Ukiah and Willits have both moved to outlaw outdoor
growing. Patients have mobilized and instead suggested an oversight
committee to deal with complaints on a case-by-case basis. Join us to
learn how lobby local officials and speak to media more effectively.
Training Agenda:
The lobbying training portion will help activists:
1) Address city/county councils
2) Choose and stick to a message
3) Be more comfortable meeting with their legislators
4) Provide general tips for successful citizen advocacy.
The media part will help activists:
1) Create messaging that will further our mission
2) Craft sound-bytes that carry out messages
3) Be confident in talking to the media
