This is a class facilitated by the Barrington Collective. We will talk about free schools (and skools), folk schools, self-education, home-schooling and numerous other alternatives to state run public education. We will also learn of different examples which already exist, like the Albany (NY) Free School and the Making Changes Freedom School in Richmond. We will cover the history, principles and realities of free schools and libertarian education, the problems with public schools, the crisis of OUSD and the East Bay Free School Project, itself.
