ABOUT http://www.greenscreenfilmfestival.org/about.html
Green Screen Environmental Film Festival is a featured program of the
United Nations World Environment Day 2005. The Festival is presented
by the Documentary Film Institute, a project of the International
Center for the Arts (ICA) at San Francisco State University. The ICA
was established in 2004 through a gift from SFSU alumni George and
Judy Marcus.
Recognizing that the dominant need of all life forms is to thrive in
their environment, Green Screen showcases the state of this struggle
in various habitats throughout the world--from the demands of urban
cities to the far reaches of the arctic. Through the lens of
filmmakers and the voices of our panelists, audiences gain an
appreciation of the fundamental similarities between organisms
inhabiting vastly different global planes, from the inherent beauty
of nature, to a greater awareness of where its survival is
threatened, and ultimately, to a clearer view of the opportunities we
have to protect our world.
Our Festival Sponsors and Presenting Partners
Mr. & Mrs. George Marcus, Sierra Club, Slow Food USA, HBO, Mill
Valley Film Festival, Film Arts Foundation, American Zoetrope,
Goethe-Institute, Consulate General of Sweden in San Francisco,
Consulate General of France in San Francisco, San Francisco
Department of the Environment, and San Francisco State University's
College of Creative Arts.
