OAKLAND – Hundreds of hotel workers and their supporters staged a boisterous march and mass picket on May 26, 2005. The workers are seeking a contract at the Claremont Resort & Spa in Oakland. The action was organized by UNITE HERE Local 2850, which has been organizing Claremont workers for three years and has yet to get the resort hotel & spa to agree to a contract. The union charges that the Claremont has refused to bargain in good faith.
Local 2850 has called for a boycott of the Claremont Hotel & Spa until a contract is reached. For further information: contactus@boycottclaremontresort.org or UNITE HERE Local 2850, ph: (510) 893-3181.
