Sweet 16 Gala Fundraiser
SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Visual Aid, in association with Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, invites you to attend our Sweet 16 Gala Fundraiser in celebration of our 16th Anniversary at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, 701 Mission St @ 3rd on Thursday, June 23rd, 8:30 – 11pm.
Break out your snazziest Sweet 16 drag—heels, prom dress, wig, polyester tuxedo or best leather duds and jeans. Help us crown “Mr. and Miss Sweet 16” and kick off Pride Weekend with a fabulous party featuring DJ Case Simmons, wine and desserts, dancing, a live mini-auction and pageant with Lucien Stern as the impresario, featuring contestants such as Rocky Roulette and Kitten on the Keys, and a spoken word performance of an Yves Moralex poem created in commemoration of Visual Aid’s Sweet 16.
Contestants of all styles and genders are welcome to participate in the pageant. Crowns for the winners will be created by artists David Faulk and Michael Johnstone. Luxurious prizes will be bestowed to the winners and all the contestants. Contestants will be judged on the basis of creativity. Mrs. Vera and Mr. Tina will be our distinguished judges.
Tickets $55 - General Public, $25 - Artists and Students. Advance ticket sales are available through the YBCA box office (415)978–2787, and through their website at http://www.ycba.org.
Join us for Visual Aid's 16th Anniversary Celebration crowning of the most outrageous, delicious Mr. and Miss Sweet 16 you’ve ever seen!
Founded in 1989 by a group of San Francisco artists, collectors, and art dealers, Visual Aid helps produce, present, and preserve the work of professional artists whose careers are challenged because of a life-threatening illness. Visual Aid serves professional artists from the nine-county Bay Area, providing artists with direct services from free art supplies to exhibitions and career development.
