Protest against KFC this Saturday, May 28th! Unions for workers - no cruelty for chickens! Organized by the D.A.A.A. Collective.
When: Saturday, May 28th
Where:
11-11:45AM - Ceres - Hatch and Mitchell Road KFC
12-12:45PM - Modesto - McHenry KFC
1-145PM - Modesto - Dale Road KFC
Struggles against exploitation and oppression for human, earth, and animal liberation are all connected. In the central valley, many people are feeling the crunch of the local economy, as large businesses are displacing local, unionized stores, and creating a workforce that is low pay, un-unionized, and are largely based in the service industry. As urban sprawl is affecting the workforce, it is also affecting the environment. Large chain stores like KFC are one of the largest contributors towards environmental destruction. This comes from packaging garbage, and also largely in the form of the massive amounts of waste that are create in huge agro-business farms, which are used to grow chickens for slaughter. Another side-effect of this process is the massive display of animal cruelty created by corporations like KFC. KFC cuts beaks off of live chickens, keeps them confined in small cages, pumps chickens full of growth hormone drugs to make them grow so fast that many of their legs end up breaking, and also often scalds chickens alive during the slaughtering process. All of this is carried out by corporate giants for the end goal of profit.
We call on all activists in the central valley to come and join us and take a stand for human, animal, and environmental justice! Human liberation, animal rights - one struggle one fight!
