ILWU Local 10 endorses Aimee Allison

Longshoremen's union endorses Allison for Oakland City Council, District 2
The International Longshore and Warehouse Union Local 10 officially endorsed Aimee Allison for City Council during a packed membership meeting Tuesday night.

"I've never heard so much applause for a candidate from our members," said Trent Willis, ILWU Local 10 president, following the meeting. "We need elected officials like Aimee who will pay attention to the needs of workers and our communities."

"The time is over for workers to support Democrats simply because of historical alliances," said Clarence Thomas, executive board member of ILWU local 10 and Co-Chair of the Million Workers March. "The ILWU is breaking that tradition. We need leaders that represent the community and speak truth to power."

"That is why we are only endorsing Aimee," added Thomas.
