Democrats Ammiano, Ad Nauseum, Oppose Bus Riders; Support Fare Hikes
The "liberal" Democrats, Supervisors Tom Ammiano and Jake McGoldrick demonstrated their reactionary colors with their support of the "newly" found $9.2 million to go toward reducing parking fines & fees and not reducing bus fares. In Ammiano's District 9 in November 2004, the voters could have chosen socialists Steve Zeltzer or Lucrecia Bermudez or Green Party Renee Saucedo, but they chose Democrat Ammiano and they got the Democrat they voted for.

The Democrats exist to keep the Reds out of office, and Tom Ammiano is an excellent example of such a Democrat. He sings the liberal tune while running for office, and he ran for an illegal third term, and then once elected to what is his lame duck term, he carries out the same reactionary capitalist agenda as any Republican because both the Democrats and Republicans support the same reactionary capitalist agenda. Tom Ammiano, like all good Democrats and Republicans, proudly proclaimed his support of Israel, where $4 billion from us taxpayers go to promote the murder of the Palestinians and defend a "state" that exists to protect US oil profits, while we have poverty at home. We cannot have guns and butter. Tom Ammiano also supported both the football and baseball stadium swindles, as did both the Democrat and Republican Parties, while both the socialist Peace & Freedom Party and the Green Party oppose all stadium swindles. Ammiano also supported the illegal cross on Mt. Davidson, which exists there in clear violation of a good church-state separation court ruling and remains there on privatized park land. Ammiano supports the entire Democratic Party ticket in every election, including all the death penalty Democrats such as our current attorney general Lockyer, and pro-war Nancy Pelosi and Dianne Feinstein, and all the rest of the sorry crew who are proud supporters of Israel aka a US military base and of capitalism.
The question that must be asked of the District 9 voters, that is the Mission and Bernal Heights voters, who would certainly insist that they are enlightened progressives if not downright radical is, when are you going to stop voting for the worthless, rotten, reactionary and utterly despicable Democrats? You had many good choices in November 2004 and yet you gave over 50% of your vote to a Democrat who proclaimed his support of the reactionary policies of the Democratic Party before he ran for his illegal third term. You got the Democrat you voted for. If you do not like it, stop voting for Democrats.
Meanwhile, the rest of the city has to suffer until the people in this city and country wake up to the fact that voting for Democrats is the same as voting for Republicans.
You will notice that Fiona Ma and Sean Elsbernd are also Democrats and they too sang the anti-workingclass, car-promoting tune. In fact, with the exception of the Green Party Ross Mirikarimi, the other 10 are Democrats.
We have achieved one victory so far: The Democratic machine suddenly "found" $9.2 million to lower the deficit. If we scream louder, they will suddenly "find" all the rest of the money to eliminate the deficit.
We must continue to fight the fare increases and to demand that there be a city income tax, taxing those who make over $200,000 a year either as residents or who work here or both. Just a 1% tax would cover all the deficit. We also need to tax the corporate profits of the large corporations in the financial district, which should be designated a special transit district for this tax.
Steve Zeltzer, Lucrecia Bermudez and Renee Saucedo all have a proven track record in serving the workingclass and would never put car owners before public transit. It is the workingclass that must use public transit and cars in general must be treated as a luxury. Public transit should be free and plentiful, and that can only be done by taxing the rich as outlined above.
