Members of Cammerin Boyd's family and their supporters gathered on a cool, windy afternoon exactly one year after his shooting death at the hands of the SFPD. They spoke about the need for justice. Some sang and rapped tributes to him and others who have suffered "under the gun" of law enforcement. Police took surveillance to a new level, as they eyed a van that had Cammerin Boyd signs in its window and was parked alongside the Jefferson Square Park. At the time when the police have said that they killed Cammerin, the crowd marched to the exact location where he was shot.
Cammerin's mother, Marylon Boyd, during the course of the press conference, rally, and march, spoke about her family's need for justice. She talked about how Cammerin should have been there, and that the police who killed him should not be out on the streets with guns. She gave an update from the previous night's Police Review Commission meeting. The Office of Citizen Complaints had finished its preliminary investigation, and Chief Fong would now have 60 days to review the findings and decide what to do. Marylon Boyd said that she wanted for those officers to be removed from the force. She said that she felt that her family still had found no justice had to do with politics and reelection of the District Attorney. She told of how she had never dreamed that she would join this club, the "Mothers Club." She brought up speakers such as the parents of Julio Ayala, who was killed last month by police in South San Francisco, Elvira Pollard, whose son Gustavus Rugley was killed last summer by 35 bullets shot by the SFPD, and Mesha Monge-Irizarry, whose son Idriss Stelley was killed by SFPD 4 years ago.
Some other speakers included Malaika Parker from PoliceWatch, Cammerin's daughters and their mothers, Jeff Adachi, the Boyd family's attorneys, and Shannon Altamirano, whose friend Sheila Detoy was killed by the SFPD some 7 years ago. A young man from the neighborhood rapped about police brutality- it turned out that he had gone to school with Idriss Stelley.
A clear theme from the day was the need to keep the stories of these people who have been killed by law enforcement in the public eye. The police have dragged out the Sheila Detoy case for a very long time so that the public's outrage at her killing and posthumous criminalization would be forgotten, and the police would not be held accountable for shooting her because she was in a car with the "Wrong" element. Elvira Pollard said that her son's body was given to her 3 weeks after his death on June 29th, 2004, and she received the coroner's report about her son's death 10 months after it occurred. It is clear to her that several of the police's allegations about him are lies. There are many questions, such as: if he had crashed into police cars, why didn't his airbag deploy?, If he was posing a threat, why was a bullet lodged in his armpit, which is only accessible when the arms are in the air?, Why did the police allow him to walk two blocks before they shot and killed him?, and, Did he really pose a threat, if he was surrounded by police (he had bullet holes on all sides of his body)? The speakers whose loved ones were killed by the police vowed to keep these stories alive and to fight for justice.

ThankU for this great article !
Sadly, when we all came back from City Hall back to Laguna & Eddy, to her diismay Mrs. Marylon Boyd found out her rear car window had been smashed to pieces...
Oddly, nothing seemed to be missing from inside her car, her sound system, radio, clothing...
Surely, the perpetrator(s) did not take the time to make it look like a "thug"'s petty crime...
Earlier during the rally, we took pictures of PD van and patrol car on surveillance duty.

YOU'VE GOT TO WONDER HOW MUCH LOVE WAS IN THE ROOM WHEN THESE TWO WOMEN FOUND OUT THAT HE WAS SLEEPING WITH THE OTHER... AND THAT THEY WERE BOTH PREGNANT AT THE SAME TIME....ONE HIS WIFE THE OTHER HIS GIRLFRIEND...ISN'T IT WONDERFUL HOW THE POSSIBILITY OF MONEY ( ie POTENTIAL LAWSUIT) CAN BRING A FAMILY TOGETHER....
ACTUALLY SHEILA DETOY WAS KILLED AS A DIRECT RESULT OF THE ACTIONS OF THE 2 MEN, MICHAEL NEGRON AND RAYMONDO COX, WHO INCIDENTALLY BOTH PLEADED GUILTY ...THEY OWNED UP TO WHAT THEY DID...THEY ADMITTED IT ... THEY CAUSED HER DEATH...
Dear Loving One,
Your feeble demonization of Cammerin Boyd and implication that the Boyd's family unity stems from greed is not very effective, to say the list... The community as a matter of fact is extremely impressed with both women transcending what you elegantly alluded to, and uniting for justice 4 Cammerin. Greed is hardly the object ! The dollar amount of the law suit is obviously meant to be a landmark state & nationwide tin terms of police accountability. We commend the Boyd family for their courage, genuine Unity and ongoing support they provide to ALL families of LOVED ONES killed by law enforcement

I suppose it does take courage. How else can you explain the blatant attempts they are all making to get paid by the City. Cammerin Boyds mother has yet to explain what the hell he was doing driving around shooting at the police. What exactly did he think was going to happen to him? What would happen to anyone, regardless of race, or handicap, if they shot at the police, in any country, not just in the USA. All he did was commit police-assisted suicide. That does not take courage. Driving around shooting at police when you have 2 daughters to take care of does not make a good parent. All this talk about how the police shot him just because he was black, is a load of crap. They shot him because he was shooting at them. The fact that his bullets missed is irrelevant. All this crap about him being 'disabled'. Oh the poor handicapped man, driving around with no legs innocent as he could be. Big bad mean police shooting this poor cripple. It sure does takes alot of courage to try and make the city pay for what Cammerin Boyd did. What would you do if someone shot at you first? If you had a gun, you too would shoot back.
This is a bit confusing, I was told that according to Coroner's report, there was no gun powder residue on Cammerin's hands or clothing. Therefore, how could he have been shooting at the police?...
You see, through 30 something years working in mental health, I have been assaulted quite a few times. I had no gun, taser, nets, rubber bullets, or most times no back up or paick button. Yet, how many people have I disabled or killed? Exactamondo. Big difference in organizational culture...

Yes...How wonderful that myself and the mother of his other Beautiful Daughter, can be FRIENDS and LOVE ONE ANOTHER AND TREAT EACH OTHER'S CHILDREN AS IF WE GAVE BIRTH TO THEM!! IS THAT SO HARD TO BELIEVE? We have been kind to one another BEFORE Cammerins MURDER and since we were pregnant. We both are WOMEN of truth, integrity, and JUSTICE and have always been. OUR daughters are six and my daughter is going on seven. People Make MISTAKES...we are human...I believe Jesus said "He who is without sin among you, let him be the first to throw a stone at her" ..in other words..who are YOU to judge? Are You without sin? Judge Not...and have not a judgemental heart especially when you are completely wrong and have no idea what you are talking about....why don't you take a look in your past and in your closet?...I guarantee you...there are some things you are not proud of! For one making a comment as such about two women who's children's father was stolen from them! And the tears and pain that these little girls endure everyday! CAMMERIN'S LIFE WAS PRICELESS!! Just as one of your loved ones would feel about you! HOW MUCH IS YOUR LIFE WORTH TO OTHERS? I bet they would feel the same way..PRICELESS...so why make assumptions about people and their past when you really don't know...because when Jesus died, he died for the sins of the WORLD...and through the blood of Jesus are we forgiven and allowed to make changes in ourselves and in our lives!
