Trans/Form, an evening of performance art about transgender lives and
experiences, will be Thursday, May 5, at 6:00 PM, in the Umuhum Room,
Student Union,
SJSU, San Jose. Free of charge and light refreshments will be provided,
even!
Co-sponsored by MACLA, funded by the Silicon Valley Arts Council, and
produced in conjuction with Transgender Awareness Week, Trans/Form
promises to
electrify audiences with powerful spoken word by Storm Florez and Julia
Serrano, and
music by Frootie Flavors. An open mic will follow the feature
performers, and
all are welcome to share work on this topic.
This is the first ever event of its kind in the South Bay and it's
REALLY
important that folks come out to support it! Please tell a friend!
For more information about this powerful event, or the week's other
fabulous
offerings, visit http://www.sjsu.edu/transweek.
PS - as many have asked...you don't have to be transgender to come to
this;
any more than you have to be Sylvester Stallone to watch Rambo,
Japanese to
listen to Taiko drumming, a dead white man to enjoy Beethoven, etc.
Hope to see you there!
