Sacramento critical mass meets every last friday of the month at cesar chavez park (10th and I) at 5pm. It hasnt happened for almost a year until now, on april 29, when aproximately 60 bicyclists of all walks of life got together to have one of the most successfull critical mass bike rides in the history of the city, with not a single problem with the police.

that's great. I have several friends out there and occasionally went on those old rides that eventually got worn down by the squad cars (and vigilantes who had police department friends - see: http://www.indybay.org/news/2002/12/1548311_comment.php ) following closely behind. Berkeley and San Francisco masses have stabilized and mellowed when the police decided to allocate their time elsewhere, so there are hardly any incidents of friction with drivers. One of the keys is turning the ride every few blocks rather than going down one street for 20 blocks, which lets the 1% road rage oriented percentage of the population think up and execute a plan to drive around to the front and throw bottles at cyclists, or even try to run people over.

SAc Critical Mass was sweet. Everyone was cool. I'll be there again and I hope to make even more new friends.
