CA amendment aims at June 2006
California fascists and fundis hope to build inequality into state constitution.
ProtectMarriage.com will soon be circulating
anti-marriage petitions
for the June 2006 Cal state primary election.
We don't yet know the exact wording of their proposed amendment to the California state constitution.
Will it narrowly ban same-sex marriages,
or will it broadly attack all sorts of relationships?

In some states, such amendments have been narrowly worded,
to outlaw only same-sex MARRIAGE.
In other states, amendments have been broadly worded, trying to ban marriage and ALSO forbid any recognition of quasi-marital relationships (civil unions, domestic partnerships, etc.).
The broad wording often hurts straights as well as queers. For example, in California, some of the registered domestic partnerships (both state and city) are between a man and a woman.
So the wording of this amendment may affect (1) whether CA voters approve it; and (2) how vulnerable it may be to court chalenges, before and after the election.
