SF State Anti-War Activists Protest Disciplinary Action
Anti-war progressives at San Francisco State University held a press conference Wednesday in support of three students and two anti-war organizations being targeted for disciplinary action by the school’s judiciary affairs department.
Katrina Yeaw, an international relations student, participated on March 9 at a protest against military recruiters where about 150 students surrounded the booth of Air Force and the Army Corp. of Engineer recruiters at demanded they leave the campus. Afterward the organizer of the career fair filed a complaint against her and her classmates Michael Hoffman, Pardis Esmaeili, as well as protest organizers Students Against War and the International Socialist Organization.
“We found out that groups or individuals might be targeted from a newscast that aired the evening of the March 9th demonstration, then on March 22 I received a letter from the administration stating that I had a confidential meeting with the head of judicial affairs Donna Cunningham,” Yeaw said. “There hasn’t been any detail released at least in writing that says what I’m being charged with, Donna Cunningham told our attorneys that we were being charged with disruption. I don’t think the University is going to try and expel me at this point. I didn’t do anything illegal or violent.”
