Irony Now? Pacifica's Goodman fails to mention her own Exxon funding in piece

by V. Poor
Democracy Now received gift of ExxonMobil stock in 2003, according to tax records.
Pacifica's Democracy Now aired an Earth Day interview that failed to mention the program's connection to ExxonMobil. In an interview about Mother Jones magazine's investigation into ExxonMobil's practice of funding global warming skeptics, host Amy Goodman did not mention that Democracy Now Productions recieved a gift of 127 shares of ExxonMobil stock in 2003 and sold it for a profit. Details on the stock transaction are outlined in 2003 IRS records for Goodman's non-profit Democracy Now Productions, which are available for public review at Guidestar (search for Democracy Now Productions and click on "form 990")

No comments? Who was it that said "No comment, is a comment".
Was the gift *from* ExxonMobil"? If not, how can it be considered "ExxonMobile Funding"? Be specific.

I think you're right here. Just because they got ExxonMobil stock as a gift doesn't mean they were funded by ExxonMobil.

Holding that stock might even have meant an opportunity to make a public statement at a shareholder's meeting. So it's not as silly as it might sound.

corporate boards are quite receptive to the concerns of minor shareholders who voice concerns about the corporation's abusive and exploitative practices.

they smile and get on with business, that is.

I looked at the tax records. They quickly sold the stock for a profit so I think this may have been more of a money-making ploy than anything else.

What's the URL?

Sounds like a lot of wishful thinking to me. But no facts appear as of yet proving otherwise.
