On Friday, April 22nd, community media activists, and those interested in media activism come together to support Berkeley Community Media. Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! and Mark Brecke, independent photographer will show recent videos and slides and speak about media in war time.

Mark Brecke recently returned from the Darfur Region of Sudan where he spent a Month traveling with the Sudanese Liberation Army (SLA). Mark Brecke is an independent international Photographer and Filmmaker who has documented some of the worst Human travesties of our lifetime. His work has taken him to over 40 countries in the world's most troubled regions, including Cambodia, Kosovo, Rwanda, The West Bank, and Iraq.

Amy Goodman is an award-winning journalist who hosts Democracy Now! a daily, national radio and television news show. Check out: http://www.democracynow.org for more information.

Berkeley Community Media's mission is to build an electronic free speech forum in order to encourage democratic involvement and build community.

Berkeley Community Media (BCM) is dedicated to the protection of free speech and community access to the media by and for Berkeley residents. Many people know us through B-TV, Channel 28, the community access television station run by BCM that airs City Council meetings and community-produced programming. We also provide low-cost classes, access to equipment and studio time, student internships, and ongoing advocacy with the City and Comcast to protect and enhance these resources for Berkeley residents. Check out: http://www.betv.org
Berkeley Community Media has lost 10% of its funding due to City budget cuts, and will lose 10% each year for three years. They desperately need your help to keep running.

To support BCM, come to the event on Friday, April 22nd and 8:00 pm (check the calendar for more info)
