STUDENT AND COMMUNITY SOLIDARITY ACTION WITH STRIKING UNIVERSITY WORKERS
On Thursday, April 14, AFSCME Local 3299, is planning a one-day strike on all nine University of California (UC) campuses.
AFSCME represents thousands of service employees vital to the day-to-day functioning of the UC system. The workers going on strike are some of the lowest paid on each campus - custodians, gardeners, food service workers, etc. They are going on strike for immigrant workers' rights and for a decent contract and living wages. Other campus workers - clerical workers, technical workers, graduate student instructor's, etc. (and their associated unions)- will also be supporting the strike.
SHOW YOUR SOLIDARITY WITH CAMPUS WORKERS!
DON'T CROSS THE PICKET LINES ON APRIL 14!
Student and Community Flying Solidarity Picket
On THURSDAY, APRIL 14, join us for a student and community FLYING PICKET.
We will MEET AT NOON AT THE AFSCME RALLY ON SPROUL PLAZA. The flying picket will be a mobile contingent that will reinforce stationary pickets and take other forms of action in solidarity with striking workers. We will form the flying picket at the end of the noon AFSCME rally.
We will RE-CONVERGE AT 3:30 PM AT SPROUL PLAZA alongside striking workers and MARCH TO THE CHANCELLOR’S INAUGURATION PARTY AT 4 PM AT INTERNATIONAL HOUSE (Bancroft and Piedmont). There we will greet him and make sure he knows that we are willing to take action in solidarity with campus workers.
