Patients Needed at Union City council meeting

Medical cannabis patients, and those who care about them, are needed at the
upcoming Union City city council meeting on Tuesday, April 12 at 7:00 p.m.

The city council will consider an ordinance to extend the moratorium on
cannabis dispensaries for 10 months and 15 days. Patients and their
caregivers, families, friends, and providers are needed to attend in order
to fill the council chamber.

Those who feel comfortable doing so are welcome to speak in opposition to
the moratorium, or at least request that the moratorium exempt and
"grandfather in" the Kindcare Resource Center, which was operating in Union
City before the existing moratorium was enacted, and which applied for a
business license before enactment of the existing moratorium, but for whom
the city refuses to process the business license application.

We actually have a chance to prevail in this battle! Extending the
moratorium will require the votes of four of the five councilmembers. We
have one sure vote for our side and two wavering votes, so efforts applied
now regarding this particular ordinance may really spell the difference
between victory and failure. An open and operating dispensary in Union
City will make a tremendous difference for patients in Santa Clara County,
Alameda County, and southern San Mateo County.

Please come, and be scrubbed and well-dressed. The City Hall is located at
34009 Alvarado-Niles Road, two miles east of I-880 in Union City.
