Arnie 4 pope? (+ events + news)

by SaveFreedom-owner@yahoogroups.com (sfbarea-owner [at] yahoogroups.com)
warped report of St. Stupid's April First parade + news links + more events, for queer page of IndyBay.org
SCHWARZENEGGER FOR POPE ?

Two giants, each around ten feet tall, are dueling. One wields a five-foot-long penis, which emerges from his pants. The second giant beats the first giant's prick with a stick, shouting "Unicorn! Eunuch-horn! You're made from leftovers, after they make eunuchs!"

"No More Chanting" is the most popular chant at Saint Stupid's Day 2005,
followed by "Schwarzenegger for Pope".

One person's sign says "I can't afford an actual sign."
The best group of signs, with lots of drawings and rather few words, illustrate how vegetarian rabbits are way cooler than omnivoracious humans.

The celebration starts with a city cop stupidly riding his motorbike UP six concrete steps; not so good for "our" tax-paid tires, in my queer opinion (IMQO); yet maybe less harmful than letting meth-monsters teeth on 'em? Meanwhile vendors sell stupid crap to gullible tourists, at Justin Herman Plaza.

My slogan for today is "Oooops, I forgot to strip."
The Naked Yoga Guy wears an artsy apron which fails to cover his butt.
Birdman will (traditionally) dance bottomless at various points in the afternoon.

From the plaza we march around thru the financial district and stupidly end up where we started, having failed yet again. Were we skilfuller, we coulda marched to North Beach, but we got lost.
Lotsa eye-candy in the hot sun -- humans, chickens, dogs (no cats, unless they were in dog drag) --- but I can't take notes while marching, so ya gotta hunt for photos online, or else be there next year on April First (or on 1 April, whichever you prefer). Scariest costume, IMQO, has a living man's head actually immersed in a container of water, while he breathes thru a tube; like life-support for the healthy.

Afterwards I get to meet the Chicken Couple, who bring two white fluffy adult pet chickens to this parade. This leads to my meeting a guy who keeps a button quail as a pet, sharing space with birds of another feather.

Long after the event officially ends, a baker's dozen of us linger on ( ignoring Birdman, still dancing alone at 3pm). One couple bids farewell by singing "Happy Trails" to the remainers.

When I leave, I bless the remainees with the sign of Saint Andrew's cross (X), intoning "Est humanum errare."
Receiving the X sign, one recipient grabs the invisible cross with both hands, and twists it a few degrees, turning it into a Greek cross (as on the Swiss & Greek flags). Such hyper-correction, disrespecting the Scots! Well, at least nobody here knows how weak my Latin is --
or else they're too polite to say so, at least to my mask.

I apologize to anyone who tried to attend the civil-rights demo on Saturday, April 2 (as below).
The info was taken from the SF Bay Guardian.
When I went to Civic Center Plaza,
there was no demo (and no explanation).
Later I phoned 291-9233 [Amnesty Internayional],
and left a message, requesting an explanation.
-- Tortuga
Saturday night, around 8pm

PS: Did they cancel the demo because of the Pope?
( If so, they should have posted a notice at the site of the demo.)
Or did the demo happen at some other location?
