Can your web server be seized? Can your sources be compromised? Can your readers' browsers be traced? Yes, unless the Electronic Frontier Foundation prevails in its current court cases. Come join us at the Independent Press Association's next Indy Press Thursday event in San Francisco on Thursday, April 21, featuring Electronic Frontier Foundation attorney Kevin Bankston! He will provide commentary on the present state of First Amendment rights and advice on new ways to guard online privacy by discussing two current cases: one involving Apple and the confidentiality of online journalists' sources and another in which the U.S. government seized activist media group Indymedia's servers. The Electronic Frontier Foundation is a nonprofit organization that educates the press, policymakers and the general public about civil liberties issues related to technology. Publishers, journalists, readers of online periodicals and individuals concerned about electronic rights are all invited to learn more about what we can do to secure free speech and online privacy. Light refreshments will be provided! The Independent Press Association is a non-profit organization whose mission is to amplify the power of independent publications as to foster a more just, open and democratic society. Indy Press Thursdays are a series of FREE networking and skill-building receptions for Bay Area independent periodical publishers, readers, and enthusiasts. www.indypress.org To RSVP: Email members@indypress.org Event Details: SPEAKER: Kevin Bankston, staff attorney for Electronic Frontier Foundation DATE: Thursday, April 21, 2005 TIME: 6:00pm - 8:00pm WHERE: Electronic Frontier Foundation 454 Shotwell Street San Francisco CA 94110-1914 (415) 436-9333 www.eff.org COST: FREE INFORMATION & CONTACT: Jennifer Chau, Membership Associate (415) 643-4401 ext. 100 members@indypress.org www.indypress.org
