Variations (a fabulous mixed mixed heritage-oriented group on San
Francisco
State University's campus) hosts the MAVIN foundations Generation Mix
Tour (
http://www.generationmix.org/ ) on April 7th at the Seven Hills
Conference
Center @ SFSU. From about 3-5:30 Variations will have info stations
set uo
and then from 5:30-7pm a keynote presentation by 5 mixed race young
people
from different parts of the country. SFSU is the second "pit stop" on
their
national tour.
At each Pit Stop, the crew will work with Variations' Tour Hosts and
volunteers to set up a one-dayawareness and activities fair, complete
with seven activity stations. These
stations will help individuals and families learn about the
multiracial experience through
interactive games, reading material, resource lists, family-friendly
activities and
conversation. Although specific times will vary, most events will be
between 3:00 and 7:00
pm, with the evening keynote.
Variations Vision and Statement
Variations is open to all people to create awareness of mixed heritage
history, issues and people, to provide education and support of mixed
heritage families and communities, to create community, and to connect
with
other mixed heritage organizations and communities.
We envision a SFSU campus and community on which mixed heritage
history,
issues, and people are recognized as relevant; on which there is open
dialogue about mixed heritage history, issues, and people; in which
mixed
heritage people are seen as integral to ethnic communities.
